Overview
The Sales Manager plays a critical leadership role in driving SEUS’s commercial success through Channel Partner Manager (CPM) leadership, broker channel development, strategic account oversight, and process excellence. This role is designed to enhance broker engagement, improve operational efficiency, and maximize sales growth, with a strong focus on renewals, large deals, and transactional partner strategies.
Reporting to the Head of Strategic Partnerships and Sales, the Sales Manager will lead an assigned set of the CPM team and other key initiatives across the sales lifecycle while coordinating closely with internal teams such as pricing, operations, customer service, and sales support. This position is also expected to provide market expertise and influence company strategy in areas such as product development, competitive positioning, and new market entry.
This position is intended to be a flexible leadership post that may later be divided into multiple Sales Management roles with specific focus areas as SEUS scales.
In this role, you will be involved with the following:
Strategic Sales Leadership•Lead development and execution of sales strategies across assigned CPMs.
•Directly manage and develop CPMs.
•Responsible to ensure delivery of gross margin objectives for assigned CPMs as well as assisting with overall sales strategy.
•Serve as a key escalation and strategy contact for complex or high-value deals for assigned CPMs.
•Develop and refine sales operations including sales meetings, performance tracking and process improvements.
•Reporting and communication to management, highlighting performance, improvements, and suggestions.
•Drive end-to-end process enhancements for both complex custom deals and high-volume transactional partners.
Gross Margin and Retention Strategy
•Optimize the renewal process, including metrics, broker/customer communication, and automation opportunities.
•Create renewal tracking dashboards, implement KPIs, and align internal stakeholders on renewal priorities.
•Build a proactive strategy for retention of high-value accounts through account planning and broker collaboration.
•Ensure gross margin optimization across portfolio.
•Assist in specific campaigns in regard to products and geographic penetration.
Channel Partner & Broker Development
•Cultivate strong relationships with key brokers and consultants, ensuring engagement and alignment on SEUS capabilities and offerings.
•Lead initiatives to enhance the experience of highly transactional partners, including streamlined pricing, contracting, and support workflows.
•Identify and support emerging channels or under-leveraged partner opportunities.
•Continued evaluation of brokers to ensure maximization and focus of CPM efforts.
Market & Product Expertise
•Serve as a subject matter expert on market dynamics, including energy and component cost drivers.
•Partner with internal pricing, product, and regulatory teams to guide SEUS’s strategy across different utility territories and deregulated markets.
•Provide commercial input into new product development, such as renewable offerings, pass-through products, and structured pricing.
•Attend industry events to represent SEUS.
•Represent SEUS at external conferences.
Team Collaboration & Cross-Functional Work
•Work closely with Customer Service, Billing, IT & Change and Sales Support to identify and remove sales blockers.
•Champion process improvement initiatives that simplify the customer and broker journey.
•Provide mentorship and training to Channel Partner Managers and contribute to overall sales team development.
To be successful in this role, you are likely to have the following skills/experience:
•Minimum 6 years in the retail energy industry, preferably in deregulated electricity markets.
•Proven leadership in a commercial, channel, or strategic sales role.
•Experience managing or supporting energy brokers.
•Strong understanding of pricing structures, product types (fixed, indexed, blended), and energy cost components.
•Experience improving or leading sales operations, renewals, or sales enablement processes.
•Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
•Comfortable working cross-functionally with product, operations, and legal teams.
•Established contacts within the energy broker community, a plus.
•Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen and market awareness.
•Proactive, accountable, and collaborative.
•Adaptable to change and growth-oriented.
•Customer and partner-centric mindset.
•Strong emotional intelligence and team leadership skills.
•Ability to travel approximately 30%
