The Sales Director - Data Center Energy Solutions, will lead enterprise sales for Qcells’ integrated data center energy offerings, including design & engineering, construction, onsite generation (solar, storage, gas, hydro, thermal/fuel-based where applicable), energy management software, and long-term operations & maintenance. This role owns the strategy, pipeline, and delivery of multi-year, multi-site deals with hyperscalers, colocation providers, and large enterprise data center owners. The position requires a seasoned leader who can unite technical, commercial, and strategic capabilities to capture high-value opportunities in the rapidly growing data center market.
This position will report to VP of Sales & BD, Grid & Energy Service Business Unit and will work closely with Solution Architecture, Product/Software, EPC/Construction, O&M, IPP, Finance, Legal, Policy, and Operations teams within Qcells and Hanwha Group. We are looking for a Sales Director who is based out of major U.S. metro near hyperscaler / colo hubs (Bay Area, Seattle, Austin, N. Virginia, etc.) as remote employee. This position will require 40~60% of domestic and international travel.
1. Integrated Sales Strategy & Market Development
- Execute a 3-year go-to-market plan unifying Hanwha capabilities into a modular offering for data centers.
- Define and prioritize target segments (hyperscalers, top colocation providers, large enterprise campuses) by market growth potential and regulatory landscape.
- Develop regional sales strategies based on utility/ISO rules, interconnection lead times, and incentive programs.
- Account Leadership
- Serve as executive owner for key hyperscaler and colocation accounts.
- Establish multi-threaded customer relationships across technical, commercial, and procurement teams.
- Create joint roadmaps and framework agreements to accelerate multi-site rollouts.
- Solution Shaping & Deal Orchestration
- Lead discovery to quantify customer challenges and translate into solution architectures (microgrid, BESS, PV, thermal, controls/EMS).
- Orchestrate cross-functional pursuit teams from concept through contract.
- Own qualification process, business case, TCO/NPV, and risk register for each pursuit.
- Commercial Models & Contracting
- Structure and negotiate diverse commercial agreements, including CAPEX, EaaS, PPAs/virtual PPAs, and software subscriptions.
- Navigate interconnection, permitting, incentives, and tax credit transferability.
- Lead legal negotiations on MSA, SOWs, TSAs, and partner agreements.
- Software & Data Center Requirements
- Position Hanwha’s energy management software for data center applications, ensuring alignment with security/compliance standards.
- Oversee integration with site BMS/SCADA, metering, and utility systems.
- Partnerships & Ecosystem Development
- Build alliances with EPCs, OEMs, controls vendors, and cloud/AI partners to accelerate delivery.
- Collaborate with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and aggregators to unlock market revenue opportunities.
- Forecasting, Governance & Handover
- Maintain accurate CRM pipeline and forecast; run weekly deal reviews.
- Establish repeatable RFP/RFI playbooks and proposal templates.
- Ensure smooth handover to delivery and long-term O&M teams.- 12+ years in enterprise/complex sales for data center energy, critical power, or industrial energy solutions. - 5+ years leading pursuits with hyperscalers/colos and closing $25M–$250M+ multi-year, multi-site programs combining EPC, hardware, software, and services.
- Strong knowledge of power systems (MV/LV distribution, UPS/generators, switchgear, protection), BESS/PV/microgrids, interconnection, and controls/EMS/BMS/SCADA.
- Familiarity with energy markets and commercial constructs (PPA/EaaS, DR, ancillary services, incentives/ITC/PTC).
- Financial acumen in TCO/NPV modeling, sensitivity/risk analysis, and contract negotiation.
- Understanding of data center resilience, commissioning, security, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in CRM (Salesforce), pipeline governance, and qualification methodologies (e.g., MEDDICC/BANT); CPQ/pricing tools experience is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field; MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.
- Ability to present to and influence executive-level stakeholders, translating technical concepts into business value.
- Proven track record leading and coordinating cross-functional, global teams to achieve business objectives.
- Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills with measurable business outcomes.
- Ability to develop creative commercial solutions that meet both customer and company objectives.
- Strong organizational discipline with a results-oriented, proactive approach to achieving targets.
