POSITION DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a highly experienced and forward-thinking Leader of Data Center Solutions to lead the development and deployment of power and energy management systems across our global data center footprint. This role requires deep expertise in critical infrastructure, power quality, and hybrid edge-cloud system architectures, integrating operational technology (OT) with modern cloud platforms to ensure high resilience, observability, and sustainability.
The ideal candidate brings a blend of electrical engineering excellence and cloud-native software and data systems knowledge, with the ability to define standards, manage telemetry pipelines, and drive real-time decision-making at the edge.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Lead Power and Critical Infrastructure Systems
- Oversee the planning, design, and operational governance of data center power systems including UPS, switchgear, PDUs, batteries, and on-site generation assets.
- Drive high-availability designs in compliance with Tier III/IV and Uptime Institute standards.
- Implement strategies that enhance system reliability, fault tolerance, and redundancy.
- Design and deploy hybrid edge-cloud systems that combine real-time control at the edge with scalable cloud analytics on Azure or similar platforms.
- Ensure workload distribution supports low-latency, autonomous local control while maintaining cloud-based optimization and observability.
- Support edge autonomy during network interruptions with robust synchronization mechanisms.
- Standardize OpenTelemetry integration across systems to ensure consistent logs, metrics, and traces from edge devices through to the cloud.
- Deliver real-time visibility into OT and IT environments to enhance uptime, incident resolution, and performance monitoring.
- Develop scalable processes for onboarding, qualifying, and managing energy devices and telemetry infrastructure.
- Oversee the implementation of automated configuration systems with secure versioning, rollback, and provisioning controls.
- Lead the creation and enforcement of semantic data models and standards (e.g., CIM, IEC 61850, Brick Schema) to ensure system interoperability and structured data analysis.
- Align data standards across local controllers, SCADA/BMS systems, and cloud services.
- Manage integration of SCADA, EMS, and BMS systems with enterprise and cloud platforms while enforcing a zero-trust cybersecurity architecture.
- Oversee secure communication protocols and real-time threat/anomaly detection mechanisms.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors to guide innovation in AI/ML-based energy optimization, grid-interactive systems, and predictive maintenance.
- Contribute to long-term investment strategy and roadmap development for edge and cloud energy infrastructure.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
Experience:Minimum 10 years of experience in power systems, energy infrastructure, or data center operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership or systems architecture role.
Electrical Infrastructure Expertise:Strong background in designing and managing mission-critical electrical systems such as UPS, switchgear, PDUs, and on-site generation, with a focus on Tier III/IV reliability and redundancy standards.
Hybrid Edge–Cloud Architecture:Proven experience developing and deploying hybrid edge-cloud systems for energy monitoring and control, preferably with Azure or similar cloud platforms.
Observability and Monitoring:Hands-on experience implementing OpenTelemetry or comparable observability frameworks to enable full-stack visibility across OT and IT systems.
Data Standards and Configuration Management:Working knowledge of semantic data models such as CIM, IEC 61850, or Brick Schema, and experience with scalable device configuration, versioning, and provisioning tools.
Cybersecurity and Integration:Strong understanding of zero-trust architecture and secure integration of OT systems (SCADA, EMS, BMS) with enterprise and cloud IT environments.
