We are seeking a Sales Applications Engineer to support growth in the expansion joint and industrial damper markets. This role combines technical engineering expertise with customer-facing sales responsibilities and plays an important part in helping customers solve complex industrial challenges.
Reporting to the Vice President of Sales and supporting the Southeast Regional Sales Manager, this position serves as a key technical resource for metallic and non-metallic expansion joints and industrial dampers. You will work closely with customers, regional sales teams, and internal partners to evaluate opportunities, develop engineered solutions, and support projects from early discussions through final proposals.
This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys being in front of customers, is comfortable working independently across a large territory, and values collaboration, flexibility, and straightforward communication.
- Conduct customer site visits to identify equipment replacement, repair, or upgrade opportunities
- Provide timely technical and commercial support for expansion joint and damper opportunities
- Review RFQs, specifications, and drawings to understand scope and customer needs
- Prepare accurate quotes and proposals aligned with pricing strategy and margin targets
- Participate in customer meetings, presentations, and technical discussions to support new and existing business
- Interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and fabrication details
- Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to develop estimates, schedules, and engineered solutions
- Understand manufacturing lead times and help manage expectations from order entry through delivery
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to support long-term partnerships and repeat business
- Serve as a technical advisor and trusted point of contact for assigned accounts and RFQs
- Deliver practical, tailored solutions across power, refining, chemical, cement, and other heavy industrial markets
- Work closely with other Sales Applications Engineers, the Regional Sales Manager, and the VP of Sales to support growth initiatives
- Coordinate with independent sales representatives to gather project details and finalize quotations
- Share knowledge and collaborate openly to support team success
- Conduct site visits in compliance with all safety, environmental, and customer requirements
- Share customer feedback and field insights to support product improvements and process enhancements
- Track sales activities and opportunities using CRM tools
- Support reporting on quotes, close rates, site visits, customer engagement, margins, and revenue growth
- Support additional projects or tasks as needed to help the business grow and the team succeed
- Five or more years of experience in a customer-facing technical sales or applications engineering role within the industrial equipment market is preferred
- Candidates with comparable experience and strong technical aptitude will also be considered
- Experience in the following areas is especially valuable:
- Expansion joints and or industrial dampers
- Reviewing RFQs, developing estimates, and preparing proposals
- Conducting site surveys and equipment assessments
- Achieving revenue and margin goals through self-directed effort
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university OR equivalent technical and industry experience
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with both technical and commercial stakeholders
- Solid mechanical aptitude and understanding of industrial equipment and systems
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
- Experience with technical sales, estimating, and proposal development
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and CRM tools
- Ability to manage a large geographic territory independently
- Familiarity with ISO quality management systems
Location
Remote, Eastern U.S., with quarterly travel to our corporate office in Maine and regular travel throughout the Southeast.
Candidates local to the area may work in a hybrid capacity.
Compensation
$70,000 base salary plus incentives

Travel
Travel will vary by month. Some months may involve up to 50 percent travel for customer meetings, site visits, or technical workshops, while others may require little to none. Travel includes quarterly visits to our corporate office in Maine and customer sites across the Southeast and other parts of the U.S. We work to balance travel demands with flexibility and strong remote collaboration.
