JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for promoting a safe working environment by creating, administrating and maintaining an effective safety program designed to help prevent incidents, illnesses and injuries. Responsible for monitoring and assessing the safety programs of personnel working for ITC to assure compliance with company safety practices, procedures, as well as industry best practices. Responsible for monitoring and assessing contractors for compliance to all federal, state and local occupational safety standards where applicable.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Communicates ITC safety rules, practices, procedures and expectations to all employees and contractors working on company property.
Designs, develops, implements, the organization's health and safety programs and procedures to safeguard employees, contractors and general public and to ensure that all facilities are compliant with regulations.
Conducts studies and investigations to ensure compliance with government safety and health laws, standards and regulations.
Conducts jobsite audits, High Energy Control Evaluations, and reviews to measure contractor compliance
Leads regularly scheduled meetings with assigned contractors or employees to review observations, incidents, and trends associated
Provides safety performance measures, conducts follow up investigations and determines root cause analysis of an event
Maintains professional relationships with outside agencies such as Edison Electric Institutes (EEI), National Safety Council and other safety related agencies
Represents the company safety program internally and externally
Develops and maintains productive relationships with assigned contractors.
Able to represent Manager when needed
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in related field with a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in safety or construction management, or a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in safety or construction Management, including a combination of work experience, education and training relevant to the essential duties and responsibilities of this job.
Professional certification (e.g. Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, Construction/Occupational Health and Safety Technician, Certified Utility Safety Professional) Electric utility industry experience preferred
Electric utility industry experience preferred
Ability to work under minimal supervision.
Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to analyze and convey complex information clearly, concisely, and effectively to individuals at all levels in the organization internally and externally as well.
Ability to work flexible hours and be able to respond to emergency situations on a 24-hour basis.
Ability to travel with some travel requiring overnight stays.
