We are hiring a Senior Specialist, Health & Safety Programs to work at our headquarters locations in Phoenix, AZ.
This individual will report to the Senior Manager, Health & Safety and play a key role in supporting vital operations and advancing strategic health and safety initiatives across EPCOR USA. This position is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health and safety programs that enhance the organization’s ability to identify, assess, and control hazards, respond effectively to incidents, and ensure compliance with applicable legislation and standards. This position will also support cross-functional initiatives, drive operational excellence, and champion a proactive safety culture.
What you’d be responsible for:
•Collaborate with HSSE team members as well as key stakeholders to review, develop, and implement HSSE management system standards, practices, and processes.
•Conduct process mapping for new and existing HSSE programs to support training, implementation, compliance, and continuous improvement.
•Support the Senior Manager, Health & Safety on strategic work plans, initiatives, and performance targets, while fostering strong stakeholder engagement.
•Lead strategic projects aimed at enhancing HSSE systems and performance.
•Provide subject matter expertise in hazard analysis, risk assessments, workplace safety, industrial hygiene, contractor management, and incident investigation.
•Interpretation of health and safety rules, regulations, and legislation.
•Evaluate and make recommendations based on safety performance metrics and data for improvement of H&S management system and risk mitigation/elimination.
•Support Learning & Development through identification of training gaps in EPCOR system.
•Manage Contractor Management program, including the development and maintenance of related standard and procedures.
•Administer HSE Management System to ensure document control, compliance tracking, and timely review cycle updates.
•Compile, analyze, and report key performance indicators to ensure accuracy of reports.
•Lead and enhance the development of EPCOR USA’s Physical Security and Emergency Management programs, ensuring alignment with organizational needs and regulatory requirements; drive the programs from inception to full implementation, achieving or exceeding applicable standards, best practices, and compliance benchmarks.
•Facilitate “Train the Trainer” programs for Drug & Alcohol and Hazardous Materials trainings.
•Promote and support EPCOR’s commitment to a zero-injury workplace by modeling and reinforcing safe work practices.
•Collaborating with HSSE team members and key stakeholders to review, develop, and implement management system standards, procedures, and processes that align with regulatory and organizational requirements.
•Performing other duties as assigned by management.
What’s required to be successful:
•Bachelor’s Degree in a health and safety-related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•6+ years of experience in a health and safety role; BCSP certification preferred.
•Strong knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations; familiarity with NFPA, ANSI, ASTM, ASME, and NCCCO standards.
•Experience developing and implementing health and safety programs, conducting audits and incident investigations, and leading risk mitigation strategies.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
•Technical knowledge in industrial hygiene, fire prevention, and causal analysis, with the ability to clearly present information to diverse audiences.
•Valid driver’s license required.
•Occasional travel required.
