The Safety Specialist supports the HSE Manager in building and maintaining a safe, healthy workplace by preventing injuries and illnesses through compliance, proactive hazard control, and fostering a strong, employee-driven safety culture. This role assists with implementing safety programs, conducting inspections, tracking training, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong work ethic, professionalism, and the ability to work independently while effectively engaging with all levels of the organization.
- Maintain client HSE compliance accounts (ISNetworld, NCMS, TPS Alert, Veriforce).
- Track and coordinate DOT/Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, random, post-accident).
- Assist in accident and near-miss investigations, identify root causes, and recommend preventive measures.
- Monitor compliance with HSE policies and support implementation of new programs and training (including new hire, client-required, and train-the-trainer sessions).
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions.
- Manage and update employee HSE training tracker to ensure all mandatory training is completed.
- Support internal and external safety audits, including worksite inspections, and address non-conformities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support company safety campaigns and programs.
- Stay current on regulatory changes, industry standards, and best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s degree in HSE, Occupational Safety, or related field strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English required.
- Minimum 3 years in a safety-related role, preferably in the oil and gas sector.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices in manufacturing environments.
- Experience in the pipeline inspection service industry preferred.
- Familiarity with HSE management systems (e.g., ISO 45001) preferred.
- Required knowledge: DISA testing regulations, DOT compliance, OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with SharePoint, ISN, and other HSE-related platforms.
- Office and workshop environment with occasional exposure to mechanical equipment and loud noise.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
