Summary

As a Safety Consultant at APS, you will :

- Provide management support in developing, implementing and evaluating programs, procedures and processes to assure personnel and facility safety and/or regulatory compliance.

Conduct trend analysis, audits, investigations, and site inspections of operational procedures, facility design, equipment, materials and employee behaviors.

- Analyze data in compliance with current regulations and make appropriate recommendations to prevent new or recurring accidents.

- Develop and/or conduct employee training, emergency preparedness and QA programs.

- Evaluate and recommend new equipment purchases, new and modified processes and complex non-routine work.

- May act as project lead on medium to large projects.

- Serve as a consultant to Management and employees to minimize industrial injury, property damage, environmental exposure, and company liability.

- This position may require emphasis on industrial safety, emergency preparedness (fire, medical, etc.), industrial hygiene technology, and/or behavioral science.

Minimum Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in safety or related discipline and five (5) years of professional safety related field experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

- A working knowledge of Federal, State and local Safety/Health Regulations.

- Strong oral and written communications skills.

- Basic Computer skills.

Major Accountabilities

1) Plan, develop, implement and audit comprehensive safety programs to assist management in achieving corporate safety goals.

2) Survey facilities and operations for safety, environmental, fire and industrial hygiene risks and provide assistance with development of action plans to correct problems.

3) Interpret new safety/health regulations, design appropriate policies and procedures and advise management on preferred course of action.

4) Audit the activities of safety committees and provide technical assistance to them.

5) Maintain an effective safety/health resource library to provide assistance to all departments.

6) Counsel management, employees and union representatives to ensure consistent interpretations and revisions of the accident prevention manual.

7) Represent the company with Federal and State OSHA Agencies.

8) Provide CPR, First Aid and other designated training to identified employees.
