Job Title: Safety Assistant – Landscape Operations
Reports To: Director of Human Resources & Safety
Position Summary:
We are seeking a hands-on Safety Manager to lead and maintain a strong safety culture across all landscape operations, including field crews, shop operations, and vehicle fleet. This individual will be actively engaged in daily operations, job site inspections, safety training, and compliance monitoring. Strong computer and data tracking skills are essential, as is experience in fleet and employee safety within a high-paced, outdoor service environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Field & Employee Safety
•Conduct routine site visits and field audits to identify and correct safety hazards.
•Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company safety policies.
Fleet Safety & Compliance
•Oversee vehicle safety inspections and ensure DOT compliance for all commercial vehicles.
•Monitor driver qualification files, MVRs, and DOT medical certification requirements.
•Partner with Fleet and Safety Managers to track maintenance and repair needs for safe operations.
Safety Program Management
•Maintain accurate safety logs, training records, and incident reports using digital tools (Excel, Google Workspace, or safety software).
•Provide safety performance reports to leadership.
Technology & Reporting
•Utilize computer systems for safety data entry, audits, reporting, and documentation.
•Stay up to date with regulatory changes and communicate impacts to the team.
Qualifications:
•3+ years of safety experience in landscape, construction, or field services.
•Strong knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required.
•Certified Safety Professional (CSP), OSHA 30, or similar credentials a plus
Working Conditions:
•Field-based position with regular travel to job sites, shops, and yards.
•Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
