Safety and Compliance Manager

Job Summary:
Ensures the highest standards of operational safety and compliance by effectively implementing safety standards and trainings, conducting reports, and managing regulatory permits for multiple states.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Develops, implements, and coordinates safety program, monitors work processes, procedures, and expenses to drive team performance toward departmental and organizational goals.
•Supervises safety at all units by researching regulations, determining needs, writing, and disseminating information, and conducting audits. Conducts deep dive operational safety reviews.
•Supervises and directs regulatory training programs for employees including program development and scheduling of training sessions.
•Ensures drivers comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations by providing them with guidance, information, and training; evaluates and auditing their compliance.
•Serves as safety support for all locations through supervision of General Managers carrying responsibility and accountability for the safety of all employees.
•Maintains expert knowledge in safety rules and regulations. Reads and interprets OSHA, EPA, and DOT federal regulations, draws conclusions, and writes decisive guidelines and programs.
•Develops annual safety budget in a timely manner, forecasting financial and human resource needs for future time periods.
•Prepares for and meets with local and federal regulators and represents the company’s interest in multiple states.
•Assist with development and permitting of projects within the area.
•Responsible for related activities involving management of sanitary and industrial wastewaters, stormwater and groundwater related to the collection, transportation and/or disposal of wastes.
•Occasional travel to AZ and UT.
Qualifications
•Education and Experience
•Bachelor's Degree, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED and four (4) years of managerial experience in Operations and/or Safety.
•Five (5) years of environmental protection-related experience.
•Requires knowledge of regulatory environment as it applies to environmental protection and compliance and knowledge of provincial and federal OSHA requirements.
