Road Mechanic with CDL

POSITION DESCRIPTION

- Responsible for repairs and required preventive maintenance of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, trucks and/or other heavy equipment

- Interpret work orders and technical manuals

- Repair or replace defective parts, components or systems

- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure the work meets manufacturer's specifications and legislated regulations

- Regular attendance is required

- Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose and perform maintenance on equipment required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), company and any other Federal, State or Local regulations

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

- Must have a CDL Class B or higher

- Must have acceptable MVR

- Must have 3-5 years experience in diesel engines and hydraulic systems

- Must be willing to travel

- Must have own tools

- Physical activities include: walking, lifting, twisting, turning, climbing, Etc.

- Must work in a neat, orderly and safe manner

- Should have specific knowledge of heavy truck repairs in a commercial environment, including diesel engine systems diagnostics to ensure equipment is operating appropriately

Required Physical Skills:

- Able to perform rigorous physical labor for a continuous period.

- Must be able to work outside, frequently in inclement weather.

- Capable of properly installing & removing PPE.

- Ability to wear PPE and understands when to wear it.

- Ability to talk, hear, stand, walk, use hands and sense of balance.

- Ability to sustain awkward positions/postures.
