JOB SUMMARY

The Reliability & Maintenance (R&M) Supervisor leads daily coordination, execution, and quality assurance of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) activities for Dolese’s aggregate operations including crushed stone, washed sand, and rail logistics. This role ensures the effective implementation of maintenance strategies to maximize equipment availability by leveraging technology and best practices, streamlining processes, and monitoring key performance indicators. Leading a team of site-level R&M technicians and other R&M employees, the Supervisor fosters a culture of continuous improvement, efficient resource management, and proactive troubleshooting to minimize downtime and control costs. Collaboration with the Production Supervisor is essential to support operational excellence and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Lead the R&M activities for frontline employees to ensure optimal availability of fixed and mobile production equipment.

- Supervise regular visual and functional checks of equipment inspections, noting conditions and immediate maintenance needs; escalate critical issues for swift resolution.

- Champion Dolese’s Safety Always culture by actively encouraging team members to report safety concerns or near misses during daily interactions; ensure timely follow-up for any issues that need addressed.

- Schedule and adjust employee duties based on shift needs and production demands.

- Ensure all hourly employees receive proper task training to perform all job duties safely and effectively.

- Build and maintain professional relationships with vendors; resolve any issues promptly and foster positive interactions.

- Manage maintenance budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising reliability.

- Support planning and execution of capital projects, including equipment upgrades and installations.

- Track and update maintenance records in the system daily; review reports regularly to identify trends or deviations that require corrective action.

- Reinforce safe work behaviors through daily observation and immediate positive feedback.

- Engage frontline employees for input on safety concerns and operational improvements.

- Support achievement of 90%+ completion of Field Level Risk Assessments and Near Miss Reporting for supervised employees.

- Assist in auditing safety records at various sites to ensure compliance with company policies and MSHA standards.

- Participate in incident investigations by collecting facts, supporting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions aimed at zero injuries.

- Lead or support root cause analysis and reliability improvement initiatives using tools such as fishbone diagrams, pareto charts, fault tree analysis, failure mode, and effects analysis and 5 Whys investigations.

- Coordinate emergency maintenance response and contribute to business continuity planning.

- Provide daily coaching and mentoring to R&M technicians on work quality, safety practices, and problem-solving techniques.

- Collaborate with Production and Sales teams to align operational capabilities with customer needs.

- Integrate Lean practices into daily operations to drive continuous process improvement.

- Monitor equipment performance data (e.g., OEE) daily; identify and flag underperforming equipment for maintenance or troubleshooting.

- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Availability as defined by OEE, mean time to repair and mean time between failure of equipment.

- Maintain optimal inventory levels of critical spare parts and monitor stock levels of non-critical spares to ensure equipment readiness while controlling costs.

- Support ongoing RCM continuous improvement projects.

- Partner with Human Resources on employee matters such as performance, coaching, recruitment, and development.

- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality at the worksite to ensure consistent supervision and support.

- Perform additional duties as needed to support plant safety, operational efficiency, and team development.


QUALIFICATIONS


Education & Experience

- High School diploma or equivalent.

- 3+ years’ experience in aggregate mining operations or equivalent other supervisory experience, with a general understanding of blasting, crushers, screens, conveyors, and associated processing equipment (Preferred).

- Previous supervisory experience preferred.

- Bachelor’s Degree (Mining, Engineering or Construction Management preferred.

- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred or willingness to obtain within three years.

- Associate’s degree in a related field with a willingness to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in (Mining, Engineering or Construction Management) preferred.

- Certifications such as CMRP or CMRT preferred.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Demonstrated safe work history and proactive safety mindset.

- Familiarity with quality control procedures and ability to adjust to meet gradations.

- Experience with CMMS platforms for tracking work orders, preventive maintenance, and equipment history.

- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including swing shift, graveyard shift, overtime, and weekends as required.

- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to guide, motivate, and develop teams.

- Ability to set clear expectations, hold team members accountable, and foster a culture of ownership and accountability.

- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude that build trust and foster strong working relationships across all levels of the organization.

- Effective verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey information, provide direction, and foster collaboration.

- Basic computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

- Proficient math skills relevant to aggregate operations including ability to figure stockpile volumes, conveyor belt speeds, sheave speeds, etc.

- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of aggregate processing equipment.

- Ability to work near, around, or on light and heavy equipment.

- Currently possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record.

- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform duties.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Lift objects of various dimensions and up to 100lbs. of weight frequently.

- Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and ladders.

- Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push, and pull objects.

- Ability to use vibration producing tools frequently.

- Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions.

- Ability to repeatedly reach, squat and tolerate prolonged standing/walking/sitting.

- Ability to frequently walk on uneven surfaces.
