Relay Assistant - St. Paul, MN

We anticipate the need for one or more Relay Assistant(s) at our Rice Street Service Center in St. Paul, MN. The starting rate of pay for this position is $39.20 hourly (2025 rate). This position will be posted for 10 working days from February 3, 2026, to February 16, 2026.

Summary:

Work with St. Paul Relay Specialists performing their day-to-day work activities in substations or at locations to complete their duties. This type of work will include substation maintenance, inspections, trouble work, new construction and gas controls. Physical demands include but are not limited to lifting, carrying, climbing, handling, kneeling and reaching.

Minimum Requirements:

- Must have a high school diploma.

- Must have a valid driver’s license.

- Must pass a relay related test.

- Must be able to work in manholes and vaults.

- Must be capable of operating man lifts in substations safely and work in high places.

Selection criteria will include testing, assessment, and interview.

Special Requirements:

- Must be capable of operating man lifts in substations safely and work in high places.

- Must pass a relay-related test.

- Candidates must have either passed the Relay test within the past five years or currently hold a position under the System Relay Specialist classifications.
