Surge is currently accepting applications for the position of Regulatory Technician/Advisor to support our Operations team and ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements. This role plays a key part in maintaining strong relationships with regulators, supporting internal teams, and strengthening a proactive compliance culture across the organization.
- Support Operations and internal teams to ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, and company policies.
- Act as a key point of contact with regulators and government agencies, including supporting audits, inspections, information requests, and responses.
- Monitor regulatory developments, approval timelines, and potential impacts, and communicate updates to internal stakeholders.
- Maintain and oversee corporate regulatory and compliance tracking systems, ensuring accurate data and visibility.
- Support regulatory reporting, tracking, and follow-up, including management summaries and quarterly Board reporting.
- Lead or support internal regulatory training, coaching, and legislation awareness for team members.
- Support Corporate Voluntary Self-Disclosures, ensuring processes and timelines are met.
- Participate in regular EHS, Operations, and regulatory-related meetings
- Support emissions reporting activities in accordance with Surge’s fugitive emissions management plan.
- 8–10 years of oil & gas industry experience directly related to the position
- Strong working knowledge of regulatory and environmental compliance within the oil & gas industry.
- Degree or diploma in a related field considered an asset
- Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, with experience working collaboratively across teams and with external stakeholders.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to identify risks and regulatory impacts.
- Proficiency with programs such as Abadata, Petrosight, DDS/OneStop AER, IRIS
