Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Refined Operations Scheduler to oversee the end-to-end logistics and supply chain activities associated with refined products. This role is responsible for coordinating the movement of product via pipeline, rail, rack, and marine transport, while managing terminal inventories and addressing any logistics challenges that arise. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and possesses strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
•Product Movement Coordination: Schedule refined product movements from multiple origins via rail, pipeline, rack, and marine transportation.
•Logistics Oversight: Ensure the timely and efficient transportation of product from origin to destination while minimizing operational risks and delays.
•Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve discrepancies in product quality and quantity by working with terminals, inspection agencies, and counterparties.
•Stakeholder Collaboration: Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal teams and external partners, including inspection firms, loss control agents, customs brokers, and storage facility personnel.
•Inventory Management: Monitor and manage terminal inventory levels, imbalances, and transportation losses; communicate updates to the Refined Products desk.
•Volume Reconciliation: Support accurate reconciliation of product volumes among suppliers, transporters, distributors, and end-users.
•Accounting Coordination: Collaborate with accounting to resolve discrepancies in rates, volumes, and billing.
•Operational Updates: Provide real-time updates to trading and operations teams on key developments, including capacity constraints, rail car tracing, pipeline statuses, and imbalance positions.
•Rail Scheduling: Develop and manage transportation schedules for refined products via rail, aligning with refinery outputs, customer requirements, and rail logistics capacity.
•Fleet Oversight: Track and optimize rail car fleet utilization to ensure availability and minimize transportation delays and costs.
•Billing & Compliance: Coordinate billing for rail movements, validate railroad charges, and support reconciliation of inventory transactions.
•Problem Solving: Troubleshoot operational issues (e.g., logistics delays, equipment problems, regulatory issues) and recommend timely resolutions.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field—or equivalent industry experience.
•3–5 years of relevant experience in logistics, operations, or analytics within the energy or refined products sector.
•Strong working knowledge of refined products logistics, including familiarity with rail operations.
•Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with scheduling systems and ETRM platforms is preferred.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport across functional teams and external partners.
•Highly organized and capable of managing multiple complex tasks under tight deadlines.
•Self-starter with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
•Experience with refined products contracts, trading, or operational processes.
•Familiarity with regulatory, customs, and compliance standards affecting refined product logistics.
