Performs a variety of Quality Assurance duties including, but not limited to inspecting material for quality issues along with analysis of defects to determine root cause. Other duties include interaction with customers wherein the employee may be representing Crystal Finishing Systems from a Quality Assurance perspective. This position also supports new product launch activities, maintaining existing Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and creating new Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation ensuring such documents remain dynamic. This position also assists in developing new or revising existing work instructions for the processes at Crystal Finishing Systems.
- Performs quality tests including but not limited to crosshatch, mil thickness, pencil hardness, cure, gloss, reverse impact, and puck testing to monitor internal quality performance and to meet customer-specific requirements. Is able to operate the associated tools, measuring equipment, and gauging with this testing.
- Assists with PPAP activities and performs necessary quality planning (such as Process Flow Diagrams, Process Failure Modes Effects Analysis, and Process Control Plans).
- Understands the Quality Management System as it relates to their job including identifying, processing, and labeling of nonconforming parts along with preventative and corrective actions to continually improve the operations at Crystal Finishing Systems, Inc.
- Dispositions material placed on-hold internally.
- Receives Return Material Authorizations (RMAs) through Customer Service to verify the reported nonconformance and provide input. Works in conjunction with Quality Assurance Manager, Quality Engineers, and the respective departments of origin to reach resolution satisfactory to the customer including researching all possible alternative materials and rework options. Applies necessary quarantine to any material on-hand.
- Participates in audit activities of the processes on the shop floor throughout the organization.
- Can locate, comprehend, execute, revise and/or originate proper work instructions and other technical documents in order to ensure customer or internal specifications are met. Audits operations as to their conformance with proper work instructions and associated standards (e.g. AAMA, customer specific specifications).
- Accurately records quality data and is able to report out on the data to the shop floor to support improvement efforts.
- Acts as a resource for others in the department concerning quality.
- Composes and issues Quality Alerts along with work instructions whether creating new or revising existing.
- High school diploma or equivalency required. Post-high school education including certificates from a technical college or university degrees preferred.
- Knowledge of quality inspection standards normally acquired through six (6) months experience in a similar position required.
- Must have good attention to detail in order to visually identify minute imperfections or defects.
- Proficiency with computer use including word processing and spreadsheet programs.
- Must have good data entry skills and accuracy.
- Previous experience with small hand tools and quality inspection tools is beneficial.
- Ability to work in a team or independently.
