POSITION SUMMARY
The Purchasing & Materials Manager is responsible for the strategic sourcing, purchasing, and management of all materials and components needed for the manufacturing of product.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
•Develop and implement procurement strategies to include sourcing new suppliers, optimizing the purchasing process, and developing cost reduction strategies
•Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply.
•Negotiate contracts and pricing to secure favorable prices and terms for materials and services.
•Qualify alternate suppliers and audit supplier performance to ensure alignment with business goals.
•Oversee purchase order creation and management to ensure accuracy and timely entry of purchase orders.
•Work with internal teams to ensure materials are available when needed, while minimizing excess inventory.
•Collaborate with engineering, production, and planning to ensure all purchasing needs and requirements are met.
•Maintains integrity of inventory and purchasing data in inventory and planning systems.
•Proactively identifies current and potential product shortages, develops and implements recovery strategies, and communicates status and progress to all relevant stakeholders.
•Coordinates purchasing and materials planning across multiple locations.
•Establish and maintain effective standard work processes, proactive problem solving, and ongoing coaching of purchasing employees.
•Review business variables (customer delivery, supplier delivery, freight costs & handling, inventory levels) and establish corrective measures for performance adherence.
•Assists with conducting and valuing physical inventory and cycle counts.
•Performs other related duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
•Work conditions are normal for an office environment, with some time spent on a manufacturing floor.
•Work involves standing and walking, as well as prolonged periods sitting at a desk or working on a computer.
•Work involves lifting materials and products up to 25 pounds.
•Exposed to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable or hazardous.
•Noise level is normal for a manufacturing environment.
Requirements:
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and EDUCATION
•Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, supply chain management, or related discipline required
•5 years + of purchasing/materials management experience required.
•Strong negotiation, research, and analytical skills.
•Expertise in forecasting, safety stock modeling, and scenario planning
•Proven track record of successful cost savings and process improvement.
•Highly developed organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities at once and meet deadlines
•Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and tactfully at all levels of business
•Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant operations management software with Microsoft Business Central experience preferred
