GSM Metals is seeking a part-time Purchasing Clerk to support purchasing operations with a focus on manual purchase orders. This role ensures that all approved requests are accurately processed, vendors are communicated with effectively, and documentation is properly maintained. The position requires strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through to support the smooth flow of purchasing activities.
- Receive manual purchase order requests from departments and process them according to company procedures.
- Verify compliance with company purchasing policies and obtain required approvals.
- Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, quotes, lead times, and delivery confirmations.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all manual POs and related documentation.
- Track open orders and follow up to ensure timely delivery.
- Assist with vendor setup, maintain vendor lists, and perform basic price comparisons as needed.
- Provide general support to department managers and staff with purchasing requests.
- Prior experience in purchasing, procurement, or administrative support preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills for both vendor and internal team interactions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Part-time: approximately 15–20 hours per week.
- Starting pay: $20/hour, with potential increases based on experience and performance.
