Summary
The Storeroom and Purchasing Clerk will perform manual labor and complex clerical work involved in the operation of the plant storeroom and warehouse. The position will be responsible for all aspects of receiving, distribution and shipping of the material in an industrial environment. The work involves considerable written and verbal contact with vendors and customers. This is a full-time, non-exempt, union position and reports to the Procurement Manager. The compensation for this position is $35.62 per hour plus 10% bonus target. This position is in Kansas City, MO.
Responsibilities
- Assists in receiving, storing and distribution of supplies and checks incoming orders against items listed on requisitions and invoices
- Performs counting, checking, sorting and storage of materials and products
- Assures the prompt and correct filling of requisitions and expedites materials on back orders
- Conducts inventory and keeps a perpetual inventory of stock on hand
- Accurately records receipts and withdrawals and directs invoices and credits to proper accounts
- Administers the warehousing, moving and loading of materials and products within the facility
- Utilizes appropriate software to record stockroom transactions
- Involved in ordering supplies from vendors
- Drives company vehicles to transport materials and supplies, as required
- Required to work both scheduled and unscheduled overtime to support facility activities
- Perform due diligence related to vendor pricing
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience in receiving, distributing, and shipping material in an industrial or central plant environment
- Strong communication skills
- Degree or certificate in related discipline
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to solve complex problems
- Must be highly organized, with excellent attention to detail
- Must submit to company required pre-employment physical exam and drug screening.
- Must possess a valid driver license in good standing to operate a company vehicle. Must have and maintain a driving record meeting the standards of the company.
- Standing, sitting, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, walking on uneven surfaces, and grating, working from elevated platforms, scaffolding or ladders, required to lift up to and including 50 pounds and maneuver approximately 100 pounds.
- Exposure to temperature extremes, high noise level areas, high pressure steam lines, rotating equipment, and dusty/dirty environment.
