Job Overview

PermianLide is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to support our fast-paced manufacturing environment. In this role, you will manage procurement activities that keep production moving for fabricated steel tanks, pressure vessels, and skid-mounted process equipment. Youll create and manage purchase orders, negotiate with suppliers, and coordinate deliveries for critical items such as plate and structural steel, pipe, valves/fittings, instrumentation, coatings, and fabrication services. Your work will directly impact on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, and cost control across our operations.

Key Responsibilities

· Create purchase orders based on demand, MRP, customer orders, MRO, and other requirements; ensure accuracy in quantities, pricing, and required dates.

· Source and procure materials and components used in steel fabrication/manufacturing, including (as applicable) carbon steel plate, structural steel, pipe/tube, flanges, fittings, valves, gaskets, fasteners, instrumentation, electrical components, and coatings/linings.

· Support procurement of subcontracted services such as cutting/burning, machining, NDE, blasting/painting, galvanizing, heat treat, freight/rigging, and specialty fabrication as required.

· Follow up diligently on past-due orders, expedite critical items, and communicate schedule impacts to Production Planning, Project Management, and Operations.

· Develop and maintain a competitive supply base for domestically sourced products and services; identify alternate suppliers and materials during shortages.

· Coordinate with Engineering and Quality on technical requirements (specs, MTRs/COCs, traceability, and inspection documentation) when applicable to project needs.

· Maintain procurement documentation including requisitions, POs, contracts, supplier evaluations, and quote files; support audits and job cost tracking.

· Continuously learn, refine, and improve purchasing processes to enhance transactional efficiency and supplier performance.

· Collaborate cross-functionally with production planning, logistics, inventory/warehouse, and accounting to support receiving, returns, discrepancies, and invoice matching.

Required Qualifications

· Purchasing/procurement experience in manufacturing, fabrication, industrial construction, oil & gas, or related industrial supply chains.

· High proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office; able to work with RFQ logs, price comparisons, and supplier performance trackers.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to coordinate effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

· Demonstrated extreme accuracy in all transactions (purchase quantities, prices, delivery dates, and documentation).

· Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and maintain focus while priorities shift in a production environment.

· Experience using an ERP/MRP system for purchasing and inventory transactions

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience purchasing steel, pipe, valves, fittings, coatings, and/or fabricated components for tank, vessel, skid, or structural steel projects.

· Working knowledge of MRP (Material Requirements Planning), inventory control, and cycle count/receiving processes in a warehouse or yard environment.

· Familiarity with quality documentation needs (MTRs, COCs, heat numbers/traceability) for steel and pressure-related components when required.

· Understanding of logistics and freight coordination for oversized/heavy materials and time-sensitive deliveries.
