Position Summary

Vogt is based in Louisville, KY and specializes in the design, manufacture and supply of equipment and solutions to the power generation industry. We are an industry leader in heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) with both domestic and international customers.
The Proposal Engineer is responsible for and leads the development of the technical side of an Aftermarket proposal. The Proposal Engineer also supports the Account Manager.
Essential Responsibilities•Understands and can analyze boiler and associated balance of plant equipment.
•Reviews project specifications and ensure compliance or addresses noncompliance. Reviews and incorporates all changes to specifications and evaluates and communicates the impact on the project estimate and schedule.
•Develops proposal scope and vendor RFQ’s.
•Develops required and necessary engineering schedules with input from support engineering disciplines and other departments to meet required deliveries and customer requirements.
•Conducts and participates in team meetings, meetings with support personnel, and meetings with the customer to provide up-to-date project status reports in order to anticipate and solve project issues.
•Performs and/or assists in studies for economic/technical optimization of our products.
•Represents the Aftermarket department as directed.
•Develops the cost estimate including material costs and interfaces with other departments to estimate the soft costs.
•Writes the technical proposal.
•Meets with Customer to present the proposal and clarify issues.
•Supports site walk-downs and pre-bids.
•Gathers technical information from site and ensures the necessary documentation and/or technical data sheets exist to support the work being proposed.
•Communicates the technical aspects of the proposal to the VPI Account Manager and BPI Sales.

Job Requirements / Skills, Knowledge And Abilities•B.S. in Engineering or closely related field or 3-5 years field experience in power generating equipment or power generating construction, preferred. Demonstrated knowledge and technical competency based on past performance may substitute for degree.
•Demonstrated excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
•Knowledge of various codes (ASME, NBIC, B31.1, etc.) desirable, including product application.
•Demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of boiler operations, design philosophy, principles and details of application.
•Must be resourceful, organized, and able to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously and respond quickly to requests.
•Must have a valid passport and be able to travel when required.
•Must be physically able to inspect boiler drums, closed spaces, climb steps, and work at heights of ~100 ft.

The base pay range for this Proposal Engineer - Aftermarket role is $88,750 - $122,250 annually.
