The successful candidate will have at least 3+ years of experience in project management for a structural steel fabricator/erector or at least 2 years of experience with a college degree in architecture, construction management, civil/structural engineering or related field. Must be able to read architectural and structural drawings. Hands-on working knowledge of structural steel estimating and STRUMIS is a definite plus. Must have strong project management, analysis and critical thinking skills and the ability to meet deadlines, be detail-oriented and possess strong leadership qualities. You will be responsible for the management and handling of commercial structural steel projects ranging from 20+ tons.
Job Summary: The Project Manager is responsible for managing multiple projects from commencement through final completion as well as the overall success or failure of the project. The Project Manager is expected to have experience managing multiple projects and deadlines to ensure timeliness and to stay within a set budget.
· Manage all activities leading to the successful, timely, and safe completion of each project, sometimes multiple projects and deadlines.
· Manage the overall scheduling of each project; working with the project team to ensure project(s) are completed on time and all deadlines are met.
· Communicate with all divisions to ensure project efficiency and accuracy.
· Ensure transparency, reporting and sharing of information effectively across all departments.
· Manage job cost reporting for all projects and monthly billing; including invoicing and pay applications.
· Promotes continuous improvement and contributes to company-wide polices, standards, and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily if not above expectations. · Manage the start-up and execution of all project documents; including but not limited to, budget, bid proposal(s), scope(s) of work, schedule of values, contracts, change orders, RFI’s, submittals, and closeout documents.
· Maintain master set of drawings for each project; ensure project team has the correct and updated set.
· Read and interpret established scope of work, plans, specifications, addenda(s), budget, schedule, and misc. correspondence regarding each project. Ensure complete understanding of all project requirements and oversee the project management. Must be proficient with reading shop and erection drawing and perform material take-offs, purchasing and logistics.
· Review and complete each project’s billing checklist, submit all billing to the Accounting Department prior to each project’s due date.
· Understand and ensure adherence to all specifications, selections, and details during all phases of construction.
· When customer selections are changed and approved, ensure they are properly documented and communicated to all effected parties.
· Communicate with the Planner, Shop Foreman and Structural Foreman to ensure schedules are met, projects are completed efficiently and within budget. Attend all production and look ahead meetings as required.
· Understand and stay up to date on the AISC regulations / requirements and building codes as they relate to connection, design, detailing practices, steel member dimensions and properties.
· Maintain required project documentation (RFI logs, CO logs, Drawing logs...etc) per our QMS and AISC standards
· Complete and / or schedule field measurements as needed.
· Travel to jobsites to gather information on project layout, materials needed, labor required and other factors. Interact with General Contractors / Clients.
· Review and understand the extent of contractual obligations set forth in the specifications to ensure work performed / produced is completed with the contractual scope.
· Compile, verify accuracy and completeness, and submit all submittals via each client’s preferred process. (i.e. Procore, Viewpoint, Corecon, etc.)
· Maintain logs for drawings, submittals, change orders, and RFI’s. Manage the setup and update all construction documents on the shared drive for employee access.
· Manage the Job Cost Reporting for all projects; update as needed.
· Attend project meetings, including on-site, for all projects.
· Document and communicate information regarding material back orders, delivery delays, or weather delays to the proper party, and follow up until all tasks are completed.
· Monitor, document, and report any variances in Job Cost Details.
· Complete project closeout; including walk throughs, punch lists, and close out documents.
· Responsible for overall construction budgets; including preparation of the schedule of values and expected time frames for each project.
· The ideal candidate will have experience in the steel industry with structural and miscellaneous steel project management.
· Knowledge of AISC certification, structural codes and standards as well as AISC Practices, Rules, and Regulations regarding Steel Construction and Design.
· Proficient in reading and interpreting architectural and structural drawings
· Strong knowledge of structural steel materials, fabrication processes, and industry standards.
· Standard Construction Practices and Procedures from Award to Closeout.
· Excellent organizational and both Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Must be able to multitask and prioritize responsibilities
· Bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction management, civil/structural engineering, or related field preferred.
· Proficient in MS Office, with heavy emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
· Able to work 5 days a week, some overtime is required.
· Ability to work effectively as a team member, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
· Possess a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
· Able to understand and communicate the English language.
· Wear appropriate protective clothing in compliance with safety protocols.
