We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Project Cost Estimator to join our team in Waco, TX. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the financial success of our projects by developing accurate cost estimates and supporting our transmission and distribution budgeting process.
- Develop initial and updated project cost estimates throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with Planning, Engineering, Regulatory, and Project Management teams to define scope and determine resource needs for transmission, substation, and distribution projects.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates using historical data, RUS contract information, and internal Cooperative job cost records.
- Track, analyze, and report project budgets against actual costs, including variances and changes in scope.
- Maintain cost databases, templates, and methodologies to support accurate and consistent estimating.
- Partner with Project Management and Fiscal Services to update forecasts, reconcile costs, and ensure proper job closeout.
- Support regulatory filings and financial decisions with accurate cost reporting and analysis.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by refining estimating practices and project control methodologies.
You’ll thrive in this role if you have a strong blend of technical knowledge, financial acumen, and problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Accounting, or Construction Science (ABET accredited).
- 5+ years of direct experience in construction estimating of high voltage transmission, substation, or distribution facilities.- Associate’s degree in a related science or accounting. - 7+ years of direct experience in construction estimating of high voltage transmission, substation, or distribution facilities.
