The Project Coordinator is responsible for maintaining safety, scope, schedule, budget and quality on multiple projects managed by the Lucky Friday Projects Department. This position requires work with multidisciplinary teams, oversight of contractors and effective communication and coordination with engineers, suppliers and other Hecla departments. Tasks are balanced between office work and field support and coordination activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include
- Work closely with the Project Manager, engineers, contractors and operations staff to ensure that the direction of projects is clear and achievable.
- Prepare schedules, cost estimates, work plans and risk assessments for assigned projects.
- Provide oversight of contractor work activities with an emphasis on safe work performance and quality.
- Effectively communicate status of projects and provide ongoing updates.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, engineers, employees and stakeholders to achieve project requirements.
- Understand and communicate deviations from project scope, schedule or budget.
- Work with the project team and other personnel to determine solutions and resolve problems that arise.
- Create Authorization For Expenditure (AFE's) for approval of capital projects.
- Understand and follow safe operating procedures, perform workplace inspections and adhere to applicable rules and regulations.
- Participate in proactive safety activities and lead by example to build a positive safety culture.
- Demonstrate environmental stewardship, conduct work in a responsible manner and minimize environmental impacts.
- Communicate and work effectively with all members of the project team.
- High school diploma or G.E.D required, associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Desire to pursue degree or other professional development opportunities.
- 10 years of experience in mining, construction or heavy industry.
- Experience in project controls or project management preferred.
- Excellent organization and communication skills.
- Proven leadership in safety.
- Proficiency in project scheduling and budget tracking.
- Proficiency in Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Experience with Primavera P6, IFS and/or CAD programs preferred.
- Project Management certification preferred.
