Summary:
The Project Accountant performs a variety of routine and non-routine accounting functions with significant focus on general ledger accuracy, project accounting and financial reporting. The position will assist the Controller in conducting key activities such as month-end and quarter-end close, Board Reporting, year-end property tax filings and other ad hoc tasks as assigned.
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
- Perform accurate and timely month, quarter and year-end close procedures including assisting in preparing journal entries and account reconciliations for multiple balance sheets in relation to projects.
- Assist with internal and external financial reporting.
- Support external review and valuation requirements related to specific areas of responsibility, including preparation of audit schedules.
- Support Project Accounting with cost transfers, reconciliations, revenue accounting.
- Special projects to automate, streamline and improve internal processes and practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller or CFO.A
- Must have intermediate level excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills, the ability to solve complex problems.
- Strong skills working with expenses, accounting and ability to reconcile accounts.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and adapt to a flexible, fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Construction industry experience is a plus.
- CPA or CPA Candidate is a plus.
- 3-5 years of general ledger accounting experience.
- Working knowledge of Sage, Procore, QuickBase a plus.
This position requires team collaboration and presence at in-person meetings and is best suited to a traditional work schedule. Occasional remote work is acceptable.
- Occasional travel (10-15%) to meetings and events, typically within a 100-mile radius of the office.
- Occasional travel to various job site locations as needed for photography or milestone events.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to see well (naturally or with correction).
