Description
The Program Management Department Manager is responsible for the managerial leadership and direction of large complex project and program execution within strategic business initiatives, client strategy and development and large team project management. The Program Management Department Manager will develop and lead teams of project managers and project support personnel. This role will be responsible to lead the department in a dynamic and profitable manner, and to develop strategy and drive to operational excellence, based on Burns & McDonnell's core values of client satisfaction, commitment, dedication, integrity, safety and overall outstanding service.
Responsibilities:
•Lead and manage the development and execution of overall Program strategic business initiatives to achieve goals and objectives.
•Provide direction and support business development efforts in identification and vetting of prospective clients and projects, including evaluation of program management opportunities outside of traditional industry verticals. Responsible for business development activities aligning with business goals.
•Provide leadership to Program teams; direct and coordinate the multi-discipline department, ensuring efficient and cost-effective utilization of staff.
•Evaluate the health of major programs, identify and mitigate risk across programs, analyze deficiencies, and implement changes as required. Provide managerial oversight of large programs, and provide direct support to project teams on strategic projects when required.
•Oversee the development of department tools and workflows to increase efficiency in project execution for the Program. Implement continuous improvement strategies to improve the performance of our teams and programs.
•Liaise with company stakeholders and provide strategic leadership to progress the Program Management Office model nationally. Collaborate cross-functionally to align strategies that drive client engagement, operational excellence, and market growth across industries and geographies, ensuring consistent and high-quality implementation of the program management model enterprise-wide.
•Direct oversight and management of Program budgets and expenditure of funds.
•Achieve stated targets and standards for Programs financial performance.
•Present monthly financial information to leadership including project revenue forecasts.
•Support strategies for cross-selling engineering, consulting, and other services across the organization.
•Contribute to the development of long-term strategies for program growth and service diversification.
•Responsible for ensuring alignment and support of Regional Office program management development, quality control and resource coordination.
•Recruits, hires, develops, and retains outstanding employee-owners.
•Responsible for mentoring, managing, training, and conducting performance evaluation for select direct reports.
•Responsible for interpreting policies, purposes and goals of the organization to department personnel.
•Adheres and responsible for compliance with Burns & McDonnell Quality Control program
•Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
•Responsible for diversity initiatives.
Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or related degree from an accredited program and minimum of 7 years relevant consulting experience, preferably in the engineering or construction industry or project management; applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement. 13 years or more of experience preferred.
•PMP certification preferred.
•Expert experience in client and business development.
•Diverse and extensive industry experience, with a preference for experience in the electric and gas transmission and distribution industry, including understanding of regulated utility business practices, competitive transmission processes and financials.
•Ability to cross sell Program Management services within all industries and Burns & McDonnell Global Practices
•Expert experience in managing projects, which includes proposal development, contract negotiations, project planning, design team coordination & communication, budgeting, schedule management, and client coordination.
•Expert facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
•Experience leading a multi-discipline team that has executed and managed major projects or programs greater than $250 million preferred.
•Demonstrated success as to budget, savings and/or profit margins in completed projects.
•Ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead and manage.
•Excellent planning and analytical skills.
•Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
•Expert knowledge of project management methodologies and tools including the use of Primavera P6 or equivalent.
•Extensive travel to project and company locations may be required.
Compensation
$150,000.00-430,000.00 Yearly
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
