Production Specialist (South)

We have an opportunity at our Martinez Refinery in California and are seeking a talented Production Specialist (South) to join our team as a pivotal member that would play a key role here at PBF Energy.
The Production Specialist is responsible for establishing and implementing the actions required to meet both short term production and longer-term capacity assurance requirements for assigned process units and other refinery systems. This specific position supports the Heavy Oil Processing Department, specifically the South side of the OPCEN Operating Units, which include the Flexicoker, gas plant, Flexsorb, OPCEN Utilities, and Pitch Bench.
This position offers the opportunity to use process unit troubleshooting and logical problem-solving skills to work in a critical decision-making capacity for Refinery Management. We are seeking someone who is an effective change agent in an operations field team environment that can work across organizational boundaries to maximize profitability.
- Act as the operational Subject Matter Expert for Flexicoker and OPCEN South units.
- Establish weekly and monthly operating plans and targets with Economics and Scheduling.
- Ensure operator knowledge and skills development systems are established to enable ongoing learning in operations practices and basic technology, including signing-off on operator qualifications.
- Routinely audit compliance of operating unit data against targets (UTL, RCM operator rounds, etc.)
- Develop, maintain, and audit longer term reliability and tech assurance (PSM) systems.
- Provide a system-level overview along with prioritization of competing resource needs for business risk management, interfacing with support disciplines from technical and non-technical backgrounds.
- The Production Specialist is a key contributor that provides organizational leadership for many elements of MRC work processes including:
- Operations Procedure Management process
- MOC coordination & PSSR execution
- Incident Investigation /FOCUS mitigation item implementation
- Process Unit Safety Auditing
- Proactive Monitoring Routines
- Red Tag/Drill development and consistency
- Best Practice Implementation- 5+ years’ experience in relevant operations, lab, or other supporting roles in refinery Operations - The individual must have proficient oral and written communications skills along with strong leadership skills.
- Available during off-hours for consultation with the Operations Shift Teams, abnormal situations and emergencies is expected.
- Possess a valid Driver’s License
- Occasionally an altered work schedule over an extended period may be required (maintenance outages and turnarounds).

The salary range for this position is $101,702.39 - $180,479.24. The compensation range listed in this posting is in compliance with applicable state law. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, job-related skills and internal peer equity will be considered in determining the selected candidate’s compensation.
