Planner
Job Summary
The Production Planning Support Specialist plays a key role in ensuring accurate scheduling, timely order fulfillment, and effective communication across Planning, Production, Purchasing, and Vendor teams. This role supports daily operational activities, drives on time delivery performance, and contributes to inventory accuracy and process reliability, and reports to the Director of Planning.
Job Duties
- Support execution of the 80/20 strategy within production planning to optimize scheduling and resource allocation.
- Expedite materials from outside vendors to resolve hot, past due, or at risk orders.
- Assist Planners with updating and realigning past due production dates.
- Monitor rework orders (including bad galvanizing), ensuring parts are returned to vendors and back to MPS quickly to support open orders.
- Coordinate with Production leadership on expected completion timing for late orders.
- Add weekly status comments to A/B late orders, Canada open orders, and past due orders.
- Maintain and update key tracking tools, including the Bolt Tracker, Overdue Work Report, and Planners Date Management Report.
- Support communication and reporting for storm events and Oncor/Entergy updates.
- Add weekly comments to open order reports identifying missing parts needed for fulfillment.
- Notify Planning of shortages resulting from inventory adjustments or discrepancies.
- Generate daily and weekly Open Order Status reports for all customers.
- Maintain and publish the Production Tracker and Schedule Attainment metrics daily.
- Conduct daily analysis of open orders for the Top 20 customers; publish detailed status updates and collaborate with Planners and Buyers to meet required delivery dates.
- Work with the Planning team to identify roadblocks affecting on time delivery and assist in implementing corrective actions.
- Support investigations into root cause and corrective actions for orders late to OPD.
- Gather and analyze historical data, market trends, seasonality, and order status to compile stock status and inventory reports.
- Prepare and distribute reporting materials for inventory and forecast planning meetings.
- Complete all required documentation accurately and on time.
- Maintain 5S standards and adhere to all Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Perform complex tasks typically following established processes
- Typically requires at least 1-3 years of Planning experience or Customer Service
- Experience with ERP systems (JD Edwards is a must)
