The Production Manager is responsible for leading day-to-day plant operations at Plymouth, IN facility. In this facility, Divert receives unsold food from the client, analyzes the content, and then separates organics to be processed by our partner's digesters. This is a complex process that requires individuals working in the facility to work in a collaborative, team-centered manner. The successful individual demonstrates strong leadership, mentorship, technical training and is mechanically inclined, comfortable working with standard and proprietary production equipment.
Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Production Manager will lead the way to:
- Promote a safe and healthy workplace! Engage your team in an effort to maintain the Divert culture in the plant by focusing on safe behaviors, fostering teamwork and executing processes that support empowerment and structured independence.
- Lead by example! Assure a safe work environment through training and reinforcement of acceptable behavior.
- Drive excellence! Assure established operating discipline is maintained consistently by executing standard work and validating results.
- Train & retain! Develops hourly workforce through regular coaching and feedback focused on growth, development, and retention.
- Responsible for leading the day-to-day execution and management of the plant operations processing plan, and staffing plan while working with the Plant Manager to ensure proper adjustments are made as needed
- Effectively engage your team on the plant floor working with peer team members (Maintenance Manager and Transportation Manager/Supervisor) to execute the plan for the day
- Immerse yourself, lead from the front, and develop a full understanding of all processes and equipment.
- Manage processes via Standard Work, SOPs and processes to ensure proper plant operation and compliance to all current standards and regulations/permits.
- Ensure team members continue to develop through education and training to build a bench of knowledge and skill, and ensure smooth and consistent operations across all shifts/crews and team members
- Build plans to execute throughout the year (peak vs non-peak, covering holidays), ensuring that the needs of the business and team members are in alignment
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Operations Management is preferred. If no Bachelor's degree, you will need a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in industrial processes and team leadership as described above, demonstrating strong year-over-year results.
- Experience in leading teams in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Responsive and proactive leader with the ability to resolve conflicts while maintaining a positive and professional work environment
- Hands on leader who thrives in a role with 24/7 operations, where they spend the majority of their time on the plant floor working with their team members from all four crews
- Shift/Schedule: late morning start time, 10a-12p to be available for evening shift hand off at 6p, and ability to participate in on-call rotation and support the operations team on nights and weekends, as needed.
