The Production Manager is responsible for the management and coordination of Team Members and company assets to ensure business objectives are met in the areas of Safety, Quality and Productivity. The Production Manager will initiate plans and processes which minimizes manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials and capital.
General purpose: The Production Manager will provide leadership to meet company objectives in the areas of Safety, Quality and Production by directing Team Members and the manufacturing work areas in order to satisfy the expectations of company shareholders and customers.
· Four years of management experience in a fast paced high production environment
· Experience working in the automotive or steel industry preferred
· Certification in Six Sigma problem-solving methods and statistical tools highly preferred
· Monitor and assess Production Staff work performance, implement improvements and take corrective action as needed.
· Organize, prioritize and lead complex and diverse tasks.
· Evaluate and document Production Staff performance in the areas of attendance, production, safety and quality and create Performance Improvement Plans or Corrective action plans as needed.
· Manage operations to meet production goals and operating budgets.
· Directly supervise Production Staff in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
· Develop budgets that are sound in supporting special projects and meeting operational needs.
· Train and develop Production Staff on organizational goals and requirements and ensure proper documentation of training.
· Identify problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
· Analyze production processes and schedules to identify opportunities for improving coordination of production, quality and shipping.
· Compile and prepare documentation related to production schedules .
· Provide business support in the purchase of materials and services .
· Attend, participate and lead Department and Company meetings .
· Interface with the SAP database and maintain accurate and up to date information within the system.
· Ensure acceptable housekeeping levels are maintained by Production Staff at all times.
· Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kanban, Kaizen, 5S or other techniques to improve production and quality.
· Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality.
· Ability to mentor, develop, and train staff to ensure they are successful in their roles.
· Skills in database management and record keeping
· Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel and demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping.
