IBP is currently recruiting a Production Manager for our steel stud plant, based in Edmonton, Alberta.
It's a permanent and full-time position, offering a challenging opportunity for a motivated individual to demonstrate their skills and abilities in a manufacturing operation within a large corporation.
As a key member of the plant leadership team, the Production Manager leads day-to-day execution across Production, Maintenance, and Shipping, with a strong emphasis on safety leadership, disciplined operating rhythm, quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
This position is an opportunity for a motivated individual to demonstrate their leadership skills managing multiple departments. Reporting to the Plant Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and leading production, maintenance, and shipping departments. It is best suited to a highly organized, detail-driven, task-oriented leader who thrives on building structure, reinforcing standards, and driving measurable improvement.
The manager is expected to communicate effectively using new school methods with reports, employees, peers, and the Plant Operations Manager to discuss and resolve any issues.
- Lead with visible safety leadership on the floor: coach behaviors, correct hazards, and ensure closure on action items.
- Drive change to eliminate unsafe practices through clear expectations and consistent follow-through.
- Support incident investigations and corrective actions using structured problem-solving (root cause, countermeasures, verification).
- Ensure compliance with all plant safety, policies, requirements, and safety audits/inspections.
- Deliver on daily/weekly production plans while meeting quality and customer delivery expectations.
- Improve schedule success, shipping performance, and reliability of daily output through standard work and accountability.
- Coordinate continuous product quality and accuracy improvement initiatives within the department.
- Lead plant maintenance: priorities, PM discipline, facility upkeep, and spend across departments.
- Drive reliability improvements using Lean initiatives to achieve efficiency targets.
- Reduce unplanned downtime through defect elimination, work order discipline, and effective prioritization.
- Analyze and optimize manufactured cost across departments; identify and execute cost-control opportunities.
- Operate within a planned budget and hold costs within established goals.
- Lead continuous improvement using Lean/CI tools (standard work, 5S, visual management, problem-solving, kaizen).
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; significant experience as a Foreman/Supervisor/Production Leader will be considered.
- Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and people leadership skills.
- Business-minded, people and results oriented, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.
- Self-starter with excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
- Experience implementing Lean / continuous improvement / reliability, or demonstrated ability to learn quickly and drive structured improvements.
Salary Range- $73,380 to $97,800 per annum
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
