The Production Control Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of material flow, production scheduling, and inventory accuracy to ensure production efficiency and on-time delivery of customer orders. This role is focused on demand/supply alignment, production order management, ERP system integrity, and internal coordination with departments such as Production, Accounting, and Inventory Control. The position supports operational performance by ensuring that production orders and materials are managed effectively and aligned with customer delivery expectations.
- The Production Control Manager is responsible for managing production scheduling, inventory accuracy, and material flow in a made-to-order manufacturing environment. This role ensures alignment between customer demand and internal production capabilities, driving on-time delivery of highly customized products. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment with frequent order changes and short lead times, and will serve as the internal hub for coordinating production execution across departments.
- Develop and manage production schedules based on individual customer orders, material availability, and production capacity.
- Ensure material flow aligns with dynamic order specifications and short manufacturing lead times.
- Monitor production order statuses and adjust plans in real time to address unexpected changes or delays.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels using the Epics ERP system, with an emphasis on lot tracking, material staging, and replenishment.
- Serve as a liaison between Production, Inventory, Purchasing, and other internal teams to support the timely fulfillment of custom orders.
- Generate and release production orders tailored to specific customer configurations, ensuring alignment with available resources and delivery timelines.
- Maintain clear, up-to-date production schedules that reflect changes in customer demand or order specifications.
- Monitor job progress, track deviations, and collaborate with production leads to address constraints or bottlenecks.
- Conduct daily cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies to maintain inventory integrity, especially for high-turnover or critical materials.
- Track and report key metrics such as on-time completion, schedule adherence, material usage variance, and scrap.
- Coordinate with Purchasing and Inventory Control to ensure raw materials and components are available based on unique order needs.
- Ensure ERP data accuracy (routings, work center rates, BOMs) to support efficient order processing and costing.
- Assist with managing rework, shortages, or production disruptions that affect order fulfillment.
- Participate in cross-functional planning meetings to review upcoming orders, material readiness, and scheduling priorities.
- Support lean inventory practices to optimize space, cash flow, and responsiveness to customer orders.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience in production planning, supply chain, or operations.
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in made-to-order or custom product settings.- Experience with ERP systems (Epics strongly preferred) and advanced scheduling tools.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Capable of making real-time decisions and adjustments based on shifting priorities.
- Knowledge of inventory control practices and cycle counting procedures.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments to meet delivery goals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook).
- Strong communication and coordination skills with a proactive, team-oriented approach.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet customer delivery expectations.________________________________________
