Product Specialist
Location:
US - Remote with up to 25% travel required for client support, product deployment, and industry engagement and occasional visits to corporate office in Alvin and R&D facilities in Dewsbury, UK.
The Product Specialist provides advanced technical support, leads process improvement initiatives, and serves as a key resource within designated product lines or technologies.
This individual collaborates cross-functionally, mentors more junior staff, and ensures the effective translation of technical knowledge into business value, while escalating the most complex or strategic issues to the Global Technical Director.
- Help maintain and update technical documentation such as manuals, product data sheets, and training materials, participating in the rollout of new products and best practices through supervised assignments.
- Support clear and accurate communication between technical, R&D, and commercial teams, helping promote consistent standards and share key information.
- Contribute to internal knowledge resources and documentation of resolved technical problems to aid global teams.
- Assist experienced engineers in troubleshooting product and process issues, escalating complex cases as appropriate.
- Participate in the preparation and continual improvement of technical training material and support resources.
- Help ensure application of standardized technical proposal templates, assisting in their creation and update. Product Management & Documentation
- Work with the Global Technical Director and product management teams to help create and maintain Product Data Sheets (PDS), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), manuals, and technical reference materials.
- Support the organization and update of the product catalog, ensuring information is accurate and accessible.
- Assist in developing technical presentation materials and customer-facing collateral in collaboration with Marketing and R&D.
- Support the onboarding and ongoing technical development of peers and new hires by sharing knowledge and assisting with training activities.
- Communicate regularly with R&D, technical, marketing, and sales teams to provide updates on products, processes, or technical changes.
- Participate in the global introduction and rollout of new products and solutions.
- Contribute to the coordination and upkeep of global troubleshooting guidelines and internal case studies for catalyst and process issues.
- Help document and share best practices across regional teams to foster continuous improvement.
- Develop and improve digital tools and processes for technical recommendations, modeling, and performance reporting.
- Stay informed on the latest developments in catalyst applications and related technologies, bringing ideas for improvement to technical leadership.
- Offer feedback and suggestions for enhancing technical support and service delivery based on feedback from Technical Service & Technical Sales teams.
- BS in Engineering (Chemical Engineering is preferred).
- Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in a technical product specialist, plant process engineering, or closely related role, ideally within the catalyst or petrochemical sector.
- Demonstrated experience with technologies such as purification, steam methane reforming, hydroprocessing or PSA.
- Strong ability to diagnose and resolve complex problems efficiently.
- Good written and verbal communication skills suitable for technical and customer-facing activities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; any programming or advanced IT skills are a plus.
- Ability to work effectively within global, cross-functional teams, following direction and proactively seeking learning opportunities.
