Wage: $70,000-$80,000 (discussed further in the interview)
Schedule: Monday- Friday primarily, but some weekend work may be required.
Pattison Company is seeking a Plant Supervisor for our Clayton, Iowa facility. This is a night shift leadership role responsible for overseeing plant operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and productivity while maintaining quality standards.
The Plant Supervisor will use critical thinking skills to seek continuous process improvement, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and mentor and train employees to enhance performance. This position requires strong leadership, effective communication, and hands-on problem-solving to support plant operations.
- Shift Pass-Off: Arrive early to meet with the outgoing supervisor to discuss plant status, ongoing projects, and critical issues.
- Safety Leadership:
- Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed.
- Conduct daily safety discussions based on shift workload.
- Assign and review daily plant inspections to proactively address hazards.
- Operational Planning & Oversight:
- Plan and delegate tasks based on plant inspections, maintenance schedules, and operational needs.
- Collaborate with the Plant Manager to align daily priorities.
- Monitor plant samples and data to anticipate and address issues promptly.
- Ensure product quality and production goals are consistently met.
- Team Leadership & Employee Development:
- Promote company unity and loyalty by addressing employee concerns proactively.
- Facilitate cross-training of employees in plant operations.
- Enforce company policies and ensure disciplinary procedures are followed when necessary.
- Provide performance reviews (minimum once per year) and coaching sessions (quarterly minimum, preferred monthly).
- Communication & Coordination:
- Work with other Plant Supervisors to resolve cross-shift concerns.
- Collaborate with HR and Plant Managers on employee performance and discipline.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Knowledge of Pattison Company policies and procedures
- Ability to work in extreme conditions (wet, hot, sandy, greasy, dirty, cold)
- Willingness to be flexible with schedules and assist other departments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data entry and reporting
- Ability to:
- Stand for 6-12 hours on uneven, rocky, or sandy surfaces
- Work up to 12-hour shifts
- Climb ladders and equipment
- Work at heights and in tight enclosures
- Wear a half-mask respirator for extended periods
- Lift 60 to 80 pounds without mechanical assistance
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous related experience given priority
- MSHA Part 48 certification required (training available on-site)
- Valid driver’s license required for all Pattison Company employees unless deemed non-essential to the position by HR.
