Process Engineer - Piping, Pipe Specification & BOM - Temporary (12-month Term)
We are seeking a Process Engineer to drive material traceability and accuracy by developing and maintaining piping BOMs and ensuring alignment with major equipment requirements. You will contribute to line list creation, pipe spec reviews, and inline component BOMs — including valves, strainers, blinds, and other piping items.
You will support spool checking, building drawing coordination, and ensure compliance with material standards and constructability requirements.
This is a temporary role on a 12-month Term and is based out of our 47 St Southeast office.
- Align piping geometry and routing with major equipment layout requirements
- Develop and maintain line lists and ensure correct numbering on P&IDs
- Review and apply pipe material specifications and generate BOMs for inline items
- Select and verify valves (ball, globe, butterfly, check), strainers, blinds, ring joints, and other components
- Support detailed fabrication planning including spool reviews and building drawing validation
- Generate BOMs and paint travelers to ensure coating traceability and spool readiness
- Work closely with procurement, fabrication, and construction teams to resolve material or design issues
- Support constructability reviews and incorporate lessons learned
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering
- Eligible for, or currently registered as, a P.Eng. with APEGA (or equivalent)
- 2-7 years of experience piping material selection and inline component specification
- Familiarity with pipe specs, valve types, strainers, blinds, and specialty items
- Hands-on experience with line lists, BOM preparation, and data traceability
- Knowledge of fabrication and spool-level manufacturing workflows
- Working knowledge of coating systems and traceability tools (e.g., paint travelers)
- Ability to collaborate across procurement, construction, and vendor groups
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Field or shop experience supporting constructability or installation work is an asset
