Equinox Gold is a growth-focused Canadian mining company with four operating gold mines, and a clear path to achieve more than one million ounces of annual gold production from a pipeline of development and expansion projects.
Equinox Gold is seeking a Principal Mining Engineer to complement the company’s technical services team in the Vancouver corporate office. This position will preferably be based in Vancouver, but other locations may be considered, with regular travel to Vancouver and our mine sites. The Principal Mining Engineer will report to the Director of Mining Engineering. Your operational expertise will be applied to a range of improvement initiatives and operational challenges across our operating mine sites.
- Identify value-adding opportunities during site audits.
- Deliver on continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve production targets.
- Benchmark Equinox’s operations internally and against peers.
- Undertake equipment trade-off studies and cost estimation.
- Support underground mining method trade-off studies.
- Provide advice to the site on best operational practices in open-pit and underground.
- Experience in open-pit mines as a production engineer, production superintendent, or manager.
- Experience in underground mines as a production engineer, production superintendent, or manager is an asset.
- Experience in utilizing fleet management systems to optimize an operation.
- Exposure to autonomous mining systems (trucks and drills).
- Experience in mining equipment and mining method trade-offs.
- Experience in a range of commodities and preferably in gold.
- Experience in continuous improvement is an asset.
- Underground drill-and-blast experience is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders, including senior management, technical professionals, and operational personnel.
- 15+ years of experience in the industry, working as a mining engineer in mostly operational roles.- Qualified as a Mining Engineer or in a related mining discipline.
- Self-motivated with track record of successfully working independently.
- Full proficiency in English.
- Fluency in Spanish is an asset.
- Travel to sites in Canada and other countries of operation.
The salary range for this position is from $173,100.00 to $207,700.00.
