Bell Lumber & Pole MB ulc, formerly Roblin Forest Products, is hiring a Manager of Plant Operations to join our team in Roblin, MB . Our company is 115+-year-old family-owned and operated business with operations in both Canada and the United States. We are a manufacturer of wooden utility poles, fence posts, firewood and mulch. The Manager of Plant Operations oversees and coordinates all plant operations to achieve production objectives efficiently while ensuring a safe working environment. As the leader of the Roblin team, the Manager of Plant Operations implements the vision set by the company's senior leadership team, driving continuous growth and business improvement. This role involves collaboration with various multi-functional teams, including finance, operations, sales, materials, quality assurance, business development, and human resources.
Supervises assigned staff. Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent, or relevant combination of education and experience
Experience: 5+ years of experience in management; prior leadership experience preferred.
Experience in the forestry or lumber industry is an asset, experience in manufacturing for a minimum of 1 year required.
Sitting or standing while working on a computer for extended periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and is occasionally required to sit, talk, and hear, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, infrequently lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. When in the yard, the work environment characteristics are best defined as an outdoor environment with exposure to elements such as heat, cold, precipitation, and wind. Employees will have moderate exposure to noise as heard in pole & post production yard, including exposure to higher noise levels associated with power equipment. Employees will have light exposure to the chemicals and solutions used in treating wood.
