JOB SUMMARY:

To coordinate and assist the company in the efficiency of Plant Operations relating to safety, security, inventory, equipment, transportation and human resources.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


SAFETY:

Oversee the enforcement of all PPE requirements and regulations to promote a safe work environment.

Ensure monthly safety meetings are held according to the schedule and include any information requested by the Safety Manager.



SECURITY:

Review the facility’s security system every morning for motion detection from the previous day or weekend and daily security.


TRANSPORTATION – SCHEDULING:

1. Responsible for the daily schedule and ability to set-up plant according to current schedule needs, while maximizing front haul-back haul opportunities.

2. Responsible for communicating a plan of action to all plant employees while communicating to corporate transportation department and traders to improve transportation efficiencies.

3. Responsible for verifying all paperwork for both inbound/outbound loads:


o Dispatch of Drivers


o Receiving Customer Material


o Shipping Customer Material


o Export Loads


o Material Identification-Traceability


o Non-Conforming Material


o Brokered Loads (Procedures/Accounting)

o Monitor and maintain an accurate inventory in Shared Logic to include:

o Able to make proper adjustments/transactions in S/L inventory

o Keep all negative inventory cleaned up daily in S/l

o Keep all unprocessed inventory adjustments cleaned up daily in S/L


o Manage PO/Invoices in Concur

o Schedule daily operation of the plant and dispatch drivers

o Ensure shippers/receivers are into the Corp batches on time, scans complete and paperwork filed


o Ensure trip recon is accurately maintained

o Ensure the plant is unlocked for employees to enter by 30 minutes prior to start of the shift and properly locked up at the end of the day

o Able to prepare and update monthly projections

o To handle any other responsibilities as assigned by Plant Manager

o Learns line and staff functions, operations, management viewpoints and company policies and practices that affect


each phase of business.

o Establishes performance goals and objectives with upper management.

o Monitors performance progress with management and key trainers.

o Observes experienced workers to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures, and standards required for


performance of departmental duties.

o Receives training in functions and operations of related departments to facilitate subsequent transferability

between departments and to provide greater promotional opportunities.

o Monitor and ensure proper use of company credit cards including use by drivers

o The #1 or the #2 is required to be at the plant 30 minutes prior to the start of the hourly shift to unlock and make sure the yard is ready for employees to enter and remain 30 minutes after the end of the hourly shift to ensure that all employees have safely left the yard and all is locked up. Also, during the shift, it is never permissible for both managers to be absent from the yard.



WAREHOUSE:


Inventory:

1. Enforce and execute security plans daily to minimize inventory loss.

2. Work with V.P. of Sales and Marketing to improve inventory turnover by utilizing the plant projections worksheet


provided by


V.P. of Sales and Marketing

3. Responsible for accurate and reliable physical inventory records Monthly


Complete inventory for Corporate each quarter mini


EQUIPMENT:

1. Trailers – All trailers should be unloaded within 2 days of receiving. All exceptions and reasons should be


reported on the Quality Receiving Form.

2. Plant Equipment – Preventive maintenance and Calibration of the plant equipment is the responsibility of the


plant manager.



TRAINING:

Training should be completed with all new employees and temporary labor according to the training matrix
Training should be completed on all current employees Shapiro or temporary to ensure training is current
All training should be verified within 30 days of being completed
All training should be documented in accordance with the Training Procedure


ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

Performs other related duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or other top management personnel
Responsible for reviewing key metrics provided monthly by corporate and recommending any changes or improvements.
Responsible for the recommendation of changes to SSC work instructions and procedures to improve the efficiency of plant operations.
Responsible for determining key metrics to measure equipment, inventory, and plant personnel to recommend changes and improvements in plant operations.
Evaluate vendors and follow purchasing procedure


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Preferred Experience: Background in Metallurgy or Metallurgical Engineering.
Supervisory Experience: Minimum of five years in a supervisory role or equivalent.
Metals Knowledge: Familiarity with metals is a plus.
Organizational Skills: Ability to efficiently schedule and organize plant personnel and equipment.
