Works in collaboration with leaders of Clarest at Home to execute day-to-day operational needs, including performing specified pharmaceutical and leadership functions as they relate to the safe and effective administration and delivery of medication to Clarest at Home customers and oversee specific department workflow, ensuring that staff are appropriately trained and providing feedback to ensure staff perform their duties according to organizational standards and current priorities
Location: Phoenix, AZ - Hybrid Salary: $140,000 - $147,000 Schedule: Monday – Friday: 9AM – 5:30PM EST

Key Responsibilities:
Staff Supervision:
- Provide support with weekly/monthly department scheduling.
- Developing, implementing, and following departmental process, assist with maintaining accurate PTO/attendance/tardiness records and time off requests.
- Developing, implementing, and following departmental process, managing staff to include counseling and discipline and lead new hire and annual reviews.
- Coordinate daily schedule and assist with monitoring/directing workflow and adjusting shift assignments.
- Lead and participate in staff coaching and training.
- Identify and communicate with manager any staff performance/behavior concerns and development opportunities.
- Coordinate workflow with other departments/staff to ensure all deadlines are met.
- Escalate any workflow concerns/issues appropriately and ensure shift to shift communication & reporting occurs.
Departmental Responsibilities – including, but not limited to:
Dispensing
- Responsible for the understanding and working knowledge of the pharmacy computer systems, including, but not limited to Framework, DocuTrack, CIM, Parat, MTS and Automated Dispensing Systems as it pertains to order entry, dispensing, Pharmacist Verification (PV1/PV2) functions, problem solving, quality and clinical review to ensure accurate, timely prescription/order processing and dispensing.
- Enter orders and patient data into Framework accurately and efficiently.
- Supervise technicians and Pharmacy Liaisons to ensure accurate and appropriate data is entered into Framework and DocuTrack.
- Receive and transcribe verbal orders from prescribers.
- Perform pharmacist verification (PV1) of Orders including a clinical and regulatory review of orders.
- Clarify orders with provider staff which may include outreach to prescriber.
- Perform additional screenings or verification as required by regulations for controlled substance prescriptions.
- Assist with medication packaging/labeling as needed.
- Perform pharmacist verification (PV2) on orders.
- Verify Automated Dispensing Packaging per protocol.
- Evaluate and monitor drug therapy.
- Ensure any required audits are performed daily (i.e., automated dispensing audits).
- Ensure appropriate review, process and documentation of REMS drugs.
- Supervise and assist with the preparation and delivery of all medications in the pharmacy.
Provide consultations and answer clinical or operational questions from customers.
- Assist with inventory control including but not limited to:
- - Ensure appropriate handling of outdated/unusable medications
- Ensure appropriate storage of controlled substances
- Assist with drug recalls.
- Assist with appropriate storage of medications.
- Assist with appropriate packaging and transport of medications.
Perform and ensure proper execution of NDC flips.
Technician Oversight/Supervision
1. Supervise technician activities in accordance with state requirements and scope of practice.
2. Provide guidance and oversight to technicians.
3. Ensure technicians follow established Clarest Health Policies and Procedures.
Controlled Substance Processes
1. Assist with control room processes including dispensing, inventory management, recordkeeping and security.
2. Assist with inventory control and management of active/inactive NDC’s, ensure CDS OSS process is managed appropriately, including, but not limited to, appropriateness of medications and quantities included in OSS, management of outdates, security of OSS in facility and during transport, ensure timely audits are performed, ensure appropriate documentation is maintained, ensure OSS discrepancy process is followed.
3. Escalate any CDS fraudulent prescription, inventory discrepancy, or potential theft or loss of CDS to the PIC.
Customer Service/Quality (Internal & External Customers)
1. Advise clients (facility staff, nurses, caregivers, residents, patients etc.) regarding drug therapy choices, Insurance/Third Party payable alternatives, alternative options during drug shortages, and medication administration (i.e., resident with PEG tube, resident with swallowing difficulty).
2. Problem solve and resolve client issues or refer to other departments as appropriate.
3. Provide assistance in the development, deployment and management of department and customer supported initiatives.
4. Assist billing, Central Rejects and CSC with questions when appropriate.
5. Assist with Third Party Audits.
On Site Stores (OSS)
Ensure OSS process is managed appropriately, including, but not limited to, appropriateness of medications and quantities included in OSS, management of outdates, security of OSS in facility and during transport, timely audits are performed and appropriate documentation is maintained.
Packaging/Pre-Packaging
1. Assist with packaging/prepackaging and product/package verification.
2. Ensure accurate labeling of packaged/prepackaged medications including NDC, manufacturer identification, lot numbers and expiration dates (BUD’s).
3. Ensure accurate documentation is maintained.
Compliance Responsibilities
- Maintains appropriate licensure and stays up-to-date with the necessary clinical knowledge and regulatory aspects of pharmacy practice.
- Willingness to serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge of record with required State Boards of Pharmacy.
- Complies with all Company Policies, Procedures, and training requirements
- Conducts work and professional activities ethically and in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to:
- CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid)
- Boards of Pharmacy
- State Health Agencies
- DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency)
- OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and related state agencies
- Completes required Corporate Compliance trainings and acts in accordance with Corporate Compliance Policies & Procedures:
- HIPAA/Privacy Policy
- Medicare Part D General Compliance and Fraud, Waste and Abuse
- Clarest Health’s Code of Conduct
- OSHA workplace standards
- Promptly report any business activity that you believe may violate the law, Company policies, or the Code of Conduct and has understanding of the different ways in which compliance concerns may be reported
- Perform other duties as directed or assigned
- Work with pharmacists and other pharmacy technicians to improve pharmacy workflow process
- Maintain a neat, clean and orderly personal workspace
- Assist and participate in maintaining a clean and orderly workplace including, but not limited to, common areas such as break room, restrooms, copier room, lobby and locker room areas
- Participate in special projects or training
- Work with others in a positive productive manner ensuring appropriate responsive behavior

- Obtains first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services

- The ability to adhere to Clarest’s Code of Conduct, follow Clarest Compliance policies and procedures, and report any suspected violations of any federal or state laws to either their direct supervisor, Human Resources or the Compliance Officer
- Minimum of 3 years working in healthcare environment as licensed pharmacist, or related environment experience preferred; formulary/clinical expertise preferred, especially related to Medicare Part D. Strong computer knowledge and skills in report development using MS Word and Excel.
- Degree in Pharmacy is required, PharmD preferred. License to practice in Arizona. Licensure in additional states will be required as necessary based on requirements / future activity of the position.- Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to exert up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally and/or lift, carry, push or move objects and stand or perform data entry on a computer for extended periods of time during shift.
- This position requires the ability to understand direction and adhere to established procedures. This position requires the ability to adapt well in the face of workplace stressors such as customer service issues, emergency demands, regulatory compliance, maintaining HIPAA compliance and managing competing priorities. This position requires near vision acuity and color recognition.
