Payroll Assistant Job Summary:
The Payroll Assistant will assist the Payroll Coordinator in processing 10 weekly multi-state payrolls in a timely and accurate manner.
Duties/Responsibilities:
•Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions, garnishments, taxes, adjustments, direct deposit, other information.
•Assists in issuing, or reissuing, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
•Exporting and Importing payroll data, preparing reports in Excel.
•Effectively communicate with Field employees and Managers as needed via phone calls, in person, and email.
•Responsible for processing all payrolls when Payroll Coordinator is out.
•Assist in tasks assigned by other departments as needed.
•Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
•Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a highly complex fast paced work environment.
•Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exercise discretion and professionalism with sensitive information.
•Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
•Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
•Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software.
•High level of confidentiality and trustworthiness.
Education and Experience:
•High school diploma or equivalent required.
•One year of experience in accounting or bookkeeping with at least six months of experience in payroll preferred.
Physical Requirements:
•Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
•Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.50 - $19.50 per hour
