Idaho Asphalt Supply, Inc. (IAS) is a leading asphalt supplier and marketer in the inland Northwest and Pacific Northwest Regions. With plants in Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Oregon, California, and Arizona, IAS supplies the road maintenance and construction industry with a diverse product line of asphalt, polymer-modified asphalt, and asphalt emulsions.
IAS is seeking to hire a Payroll Clerk who will directly report to the Payroll Coordinator and will be responsible for assisting in the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent numerical skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a payroll team. The candidate should be energized and a flexible self-starter to fill this full-time opening that will be located in the Idaho Falls, ID office.
Payroll Clerk Duties and Responsibilities:
•Payroll Processing: Assist in processing semi-monthly payroll for employees, including data entry, timekeeping, and calculation of wages and deductions. This will include processing new hires and terminations and the management of employee payroll files.
•Garnishments: Assist in the processing of employee garnishments.
•Data Maintenance: Maintain accurate employee records, including changes in salary, benefits, tax withholding, and personal information.
•Verification: Verify timekeeping records and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to hours worked.
•Benefit Administration: Assist with the administration of employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other deductions.
•Tax Compliance: Ensure accurate calculation and timely submission of payroll taxes, including federal, state, and local withholding.
•Reporting: Generate payroll reports as needed, including year-end reports such as W-2s.
•Communication: Address employee inquiries related to payroll, taxes, and deductions promptly and professionally.
•Record Keeping: Maintain organized and secure payroll records in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
•Compliance: Stay current with federal and state payroll laws and regulations to ensure accurate payroll processing and compliance.
Payroll Clerk Requirements and Qualifications:
•High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree in accounting or related field preferred).
•Prior experience in payroll processing or a similar role is a plus.
•Proficiency in ADP and Microsoft Office.
•Strong mathematical and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
•Knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and reporting requirements.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
•Strong organizational and time management skills.
•Team player with a willingness to assist colleagues as needed.
•Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
