We are seeking a results-driven and highly motivated Outside Sales Representative with a strong background in industrial manufacturing, specifically in precision gearing and CNC machining. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, maintaining and growing existing accounts, and promoting our full range of manufacturing capabilities to industrial customers across key sectors such as aerospace, automotive, defense, mining, and heavy equipment.
This role demands technical expertise, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to navigate complex sales cycles involving engineered components.
Qualifications
Required:
•Minimum 3–5 years of B2B industrial sales experience, preferably in gearing or CNC machining.
•Strong understanding of gear manufacturing processes, tight-tolerance machining, and mechanical component applications.
•Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets in a technical or manufacturing environment.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Proficiency with CRM tools (e.g. HubSpot).
•Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specs.
•Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel (up to 60% of the time).
Preferred:
•Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Business.
•Prior experience selling to industries such as energy, rail, robotics, or off-highway.
•Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (Microsoft Business Central, etc.).
•Experience with quoting processes and pricing strategies for custom machined parts.
Roles and Responsibilities
Business Development
•Identify and target new customers in key markets through prospecting, cold-calling, referrals, and trade shows.
•Conduct customer needs assessments and propose tailored solutions based on capabilities.
Account Management
•Maintain regular contact with existing accounts to ensure satisfaction and uncover upselling opportunities.
•Develop long-term relationships with key stakeholders (engineers, buyers, project managers).
Technical Sales
•Collaborate with engineering and production teams to understand feasibility, lead times, and pricing.
•Prepare and deliver technical sales presentations and respond to RFQs (Request for Quotes).
Reporting and Strategy
•Update CRM with all customer interactions and pipeline data.
•Provide weekly/monthly forecasts, competitor intelligence, and market trends to the sales manager.
•Participate in strategy sessions for pricing, market entry, and product development.
Customer Engagement
•Organize and participate in onsite customer visits, audits, and technical discussions.
•Act as a liaison between the customer and internal departments (engineering, quality, operations).
