EthosEnergy is currently seeking Operations Support Manager - Operational Technology (OT). The Operations Support Group is a team of subject matter experts leveraged to assure compliance requirements of EthosEnergy ~30GW portfolio of operated combined cycle, simple cycle thermal and renewable power plants and assets. This position is a primary technical resource for customer/asset-specific projects and therefore will utilize a wide variety of optimization applications for power generation equipment, operations and/or maintenance.
The Operations Support Manager – Operational Technology (OT) is responsible for ensuring Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) compliance of Real Time Systems at EthosEnergy's Remote Operations, Monitoring and Diagnostics Center (“Performance Center”), and thermal and renewable power generation fleet. This role involves designing and developing computer system solutions to address complex problems within the power generation business, ensuring high reliability and execution speed.
The OT Manager will apply software quality assurance principles for configuration management system software and develop computer and information system plans that leverage the current technology base while prudently incorporating new technologies. Additionally, the OSM will provide customer support for problem reporting, service requests, and inquiries, including developing and delivering training to end users.
Job Responsibilities
•1. Provide consultation and support for strategic planning related to computer hardware, software, and network infrastructure to ensure alignment with business plans and corporate standards. 2. Conduct business analytical studies to integrate business needs into system-wide development plans. 3. Analyze user processes and requirements to identify and implement potential improvements. 4. Develop and deliver training to end users on assigned systems. 5. Perform reviews and audits of organizational work. 6. Develop and revise procedures in accordance with regulatory and administrative requirements and recommend actions to the management team. 7. Communicate technical information, concepts, and ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing. 8. Implement, test, troubleshoot, and enhance electronic automation and control systems to improve production quality, efficiency, and volume. 9. Diagnose and resolve control system malfunctions using software and testing equipment. 10. Develop and define control system applications for various machinery and equipment using technologies such as ladder logic programming for PLCs, HMIs, DCSs, SCADA, CNC systems, or motion control technology. DCS experience is a plus, especially GE MARK and Siemens T3000.
Required Skills / Knowledge
•Working knowledge of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and Data Acquisition and Storage systems (e.g. OSIsoft Pi, GE Proficy, GP EPArchive, CEMS “DAHS” etc)
•Working knowledge of wdemonstrated understanding of power plant operations, including a working knowledge of O&M processes.
•Strong fundamental understanding of Safety & Health programs.
•Understanding of essential environmental concerns and permits as it relates to plant operations.
•Analyze and interpret data to make sound professional judgments and recommendations.
•Advanced competency in MS Office applications, to include MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
•Proficiency in the operation or engineering of generation units.
•Expertise in control systems security, security architecture, network security engineering, or secure network development within electric power utilities.
•Familiarity with PI, OPC, and Modbus Interfaces.
•Experience in implementing security control policies and procedures.
•Comprehensive understanding of the operation of electric power and/or generation systems.
•Knowledge of system hardening, patch management, and configuration management.
•Proficiency in security controls testing, security audits, and security assessments.
•Knowledge of fraud and computer forensics.
•Understanding of NIST controls.
Experience
•Minimum of five years relevant experience in power plant operations and maintenance, with a minimum of three years in a plant management team role with fleet, regional or portfolio corporate responsibility preferred.
•Project Management/Control experience.
•Familiarity with OSI PI data historian is a plus.
•Experience with heat balance software (Thermoflow GT Pro, GateCycle, etc.)
•Reading and analysing P&ID’s, electrical one-line diagrams and logic diagrams.
•GE Mk V, VI, VIe and Siemens T3000 controls
•Experience with power plant controls and control logic.
•Experience with vibration analysis of rotating equipment
•Time management: ability to prioritize and schedule tasks and meet deadlines
•Problem analysis and problem resolution at the functional level
•Strong team player accomplishes tasks by working with others.
•Recognizes how his/her decisions may impact others; seeks input from others
•Working knowledge of troubleshooting Power Plant Operational issues
Education Requirements
•A pertinent four-year degree or commensurate experience is required with a demonstrated track record of successful goal achievement.
•Project Management or Project Control certification a plus.
•Quality program or systems certification a plus.
Physical Requirements
•Ability to do walking, reaching, climbing, and stooping and lifting (up to 50 pounds).
•Travel is required, mainly domestic US with occasional international travel possible. 50% travel requirement.
