Washington Gas has an immediate need for an Operations Support Coordinator to support Washington Gas (WG) Operations by managing vendor and supplier activities across operations. This role is responsible for overseeing accounts payable processes, preparing monthly accruals, and monitoring O&M and Capital budgets to ensure financial accuracy and contract compliance. The coordinator serves as a key liaison between internal stakeholders and external vendors, ensuring timely invoicing, service delivery, and resolution of operational issues.
You Will:
- Validates contractor’s performance and billing and holds the contractor accountable for results based upon contractual agreements and established performance standards.
- Manages vendor/supplier invoicing for all Operations, including Below Ground Field Operations, Stations, and Above Ground activities.
- Prepares monthly accruals for Contractor Services and submits for managerial approval.
- Monitors and tracks O&M and Capital budgets to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
- Uses Washington Gas (WG) systems of record (SAP, Open Grid, ESRI) to access, enter, evaluate, and audit work performed and billing, as well as to extract and report data.
- Serves as an expert user of Open Grid with a deep understanding of work lifecycles and job flow processes.
- Processes and manages flow-specific job types within Open Grid to ensure operational efficiency and data integrity.
- Participates in daily project meetings and supports implementation phases of technology initiatives.
- Reviews and tests user stories as part of project development cycles.
- Utilizes Azure DevOps for project tracking, testing, and collaboration.
- Gathers and refines business requirements and translates them into actionable user stories.
- Prioritizes backlog items based on business value and operational impact.
- Coordinates with stakeholders to ensure alignment between project goals and user needs.
- Participates in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Monitors progress toward milestones and ensures deliverables meet quality standards.
- Facilitates communication between development teams and business units to resolve blockers and clarify requirements.
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Associate’s Degree in business, engineering, technology, or a related field preferred
- 5+ years of experience in natural gas utility operations, vendor management, or financial operations required- Demonstrated experience managing vendor/supplier relationships and ensuring service level compliance
- Strong understanding of accounts payable processes, accruals, and budget tracking (O&M and Capital)
- Proven ability to use enterprise systems such as SAP, Open Grid, Small World, and ESRI for data entry, auditing, and reporting
- Expert-level proficiency in Open Grid, including work lifecycle management and flow-specific job processing
- Experience supporting technology projects, including testing, implementation, and agile methodologies
- Proficient in Azure DevOps for backlog management, sprint planning, and user story testing
- Demonstrated ability to gather and translate business requirements into actionable deliverables
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and data integrity
We offer a competitive salary range of $76,000 to $109,000 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
