The Operations Analyst supports the COO/General Manager and operations leadership by providing clear, data-driven insights and recommendations aimed at improving safety, training, production planning, scheduling, fabrication, and shipping processes across all Banker Steel facilities. This role is expected to serve as both an analyst and an on-the-ground problem solver, working closely with Plant Managers and functional leads.
The employee will rotate through and progressively contribute to the following operational domains:
- Report directly to the COO/General Manager; provide updates and reports to executive management as required.
- Serve as a resource to drive operational consistency and improvement across plants.
- Support facility leadership in identifying and resolving daily and long-term operational issues.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure alignment on goals and execution.
- Performance Monitoring & Analysis
- Analyze and report fabrication hours vs. opportunity hours weekly.
- Review delivery performance and provide actionable insights to improve timelines and reliability.
- Evaluate production scheduling effectiveness and recommend ongoing improvements.
- Ensure fabrication schedules are kept current and that shop output aligns with plans.
- Maintain visibility into upcoming critical deliveries and communicate status to management.
- Shop Floor & Supply Chain Coordination
- Coordinate with Plant Managers to review progress toward daily and weekly operational goals.
- Monitor raw material availability, drawing status, and nesting/programming workflows to support production flow.
- Evaluate and report on nonproductive shop hours; identify causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Oversee trailer movement tracking and planning to ensure proper jobsite support and delivery timing.
- Process Improvement & Support Initiatives
- Assist in the evaluation and implementation of equipment, software, systems, and processes that support operational improvement.
- Contribute to the design and rollout of company-wide training programs for operators, supervisors, and process leads.
- Support efforts to improve company-wide safety practices and behaviors.
- Learn Tekla and support its use in fabrication model review and planning.
- Company Representation & Collaboration
- Act as a representative of company leadership on the shop floor and in interdepartmental collaboration.
- Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professionalism.
- Provide reliable, consistent support to company initiatives, even outside core responsibilities when needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
- Experience in production planning, scheduling, or fabrication environments.
- Background in project management or related education preferred.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact with multiple levels of the organization.
- Ability to travel to various Banker Steel locations and job sites as needed.
- Familiarity with Tekla, nesting, or fabrication software is a plus.
- Primarily based in a shop environment with some office work.
- May require standing for extended periods and the ability to lift to 50 pounds.
- Must adhere to all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
