Natural Gas Trading and Operations Analyst / Senior Natural Gas Trading and Operations Analyst (Depending on Experience)
This position will be responsible for scheduling physical natural gas transactions in support of client gas generation assets, producer services, and LDC gas supply management. Primary responsibilities include scheduling natural gas on intrastate and interstate pipelines and storage facilities for electric power generation, producer services, and LDC gas supply management.
- Nominate physical natural gas trading activity on various intrastate and interstate pipelines and storage facilities electronic bulletin boards (EBBs) in an accurate and timely fashion.
- Monitor and report pipeline operational information to the Trader to maximize economic potential and gas reliability for power plants.
- Ensure nominations are confirmed on the various pipeline EBBs after each cycle closes and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Act as a liaison with the Settlements team on pipeline and storage invoice reconciliation at the end of the month.
- Update the risk management system with plant burns, curtailments/cuts on trades, etc. to ensure daily and cumulative imbalances are accurate for daily MTM reporting.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external clients, i.e. pipeline schedulers/operators, schedulers at other companies, power plant operators.
- Provide back-up support to other schedulers in the form of system entry and scheduling needs as required.
- Attend client meetings and conference calls as required.
- Provide after-hours, weekends and holiday coverage as required in addition to the normal daily work schedule.
- Develop appropriate data, market intelligence and analysis to advise clients and ACES.
- Provide consultant-quality reports to clients and ACES on gas and fuels topics.
- Development of presentations on commodity markets.
- Ability to travel.
- Adheres to and is supportive of all ACES corporate policies and complies with all regulatory requirements including but not limited to NERC, FERC and relevant state regulations as applicable to the position.

- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
- Ability to work as an individual contributor.
- Knowledge of energy commodities and relationships between fuels and power products.
- Competence in commercial relationships with clients and counterparties.
- High degree of analytical, written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills especially with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to be on-call after normal hours for time-sensitive gas supply management actions.
- Ability to travel to industry events and client meetings periodically.
Required Qualifications - Senior Natural Gas Trading and Operations Analyst
- Candidate should possess a college degree in an appropriate discipline with direct experience in energy.
- 1+ year of experience in natural gas or power operations.- Ability to work as an individual contributor.
- High degree of analytical, written and oral communication skills. Public speaking experience preferred.
- Competence in commercial relationships with clients and counterparties.
- Knowledge of energy commodities and energy market fundamentals.
- Ability to develop and maintain a strong network of marketing and trading counterparties.
- Ability to travel to industry events and client meetings periodically.
- Working knowledge of risk management including risk mitigation fundamentals.
- Competence with mathematics, commercial marketing, fuels conversion and technical concepts.
- Proficient with computers and Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Series 3, National Commodity Futures Examination, qualified in past 2 years OR will sit for the Series 3 after hired.
