Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Millworks Operations Manager to oversee our sales and production operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in materials handling, wood species knowledge, mechanical knowledge, and fabrication processes. This role involves managing a team, ensuring efficient workflow, and maintaining high-quality standards in all production activities and providing our customers with timely communication and meet deadlines.
Duties
•Supervise daily operations of the production team to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects.
•Utilize mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues and implement effective solutions.
•Oversee the machining, building, and assembly processes to guarantee product quality and adherence to specifications.
•Manage the use of hand tools, power tools, and forklift operations safely and effectively.
•Coordinate materials handling to ensure that all necessary supplies are available for production needs.
•Implement best practices in millwork processes to enhance productivity and quality.
•Train and mentor team members on proper techniques and safety protocols.
•Maintain a clean and organized work environment that complies with safety regulations.
•Works with employees to foster a culture of safety.
•Monitors inventory and product sales and adjusts prices to maximize sales.
•Establishes and maintains positive relationships with customers, contractors, and others, oversees employee's production to ensure timely delivery of orders.
•Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, labor for job costing
•Obtain pricing from various vendors
•Communicate with project managers, jobsite supervisors, finish carpenters, and other subcontractors as needed.
Qualifications
•Proven experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing or production environment.
•Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate various machinery and tools.
•Experience in materials handling, fabrication, machining, building, assembling, and millwork.
•Proficient in using hand tools and power tools safely.
•Forklift certification is preferred but not mandatory; training may be provided.
•Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.
•Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
•Effective communication skills for collaboration across departments.
•At least 5 years of management/supervisory experience in a milling or wood processing environment.
•Excellent working knowledge of wood species and production
•Direct sales with proven customer relations skills
•Good written and verbal communication skills
•Excellent mathematical aptitude and problem solving skills
•Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple assignments
•Self-motivated, and ability to multi-task while meeting deadlines
•Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications including Office 365, specifically Excel, Quickbooks preferred.
