Summary
The Metering Supervisor will provide leadership, oversight, and quality performance regarding the maintenance and repair of all equipment, meters, data acquisition, and AMR components associated with the customer facilities. The Metering Supervisor will develop and refine preventative maintenance plans and task descriptions to streamline Baltimore’s metering program. The work at times may involve written and verbal contact with vendors and customers. This role is technical in nature with regards to parts procurement and outage planning and requires customer service skills to deal with suppliers. The Metering Supervisor reports to the Maintenance Manager. This is a full-time, on-site, exempt position located in Baltimore, MD.
The compensation range for this position is $80,000-110,000 annually plus a 15% bonus target.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the installation, maintenance and accuracy of utility metering systems, ensuring compliance with regulations and company standards.
- Supervises, schedules and participates in the meter reading and customer service activities.
- Maintains safe working conditions and identifies and corrects or reports on unsafe conditions in work areas.
- Prepares estimates, PARs, and technical engineering requests (ESRs) for metering installations and upgrades.
- Plans, schedules, and implements daily metering activities and sets priorities in scheduling based on customer needs.
- Provides on the job training for all employees in several areas including but not limited to safety and job development.
- Communicates timely and relevant information to management, direct reports and others as situations necessitate.
- Reviews metering data reports, identifies problem areas and suggests or develops problem solutions for identified metering issues.
- Works closely with the Finance team and Distribution Manager to assure continuity between office and field personnel.
- Interfaces with employees in other departments, customers, other utilities, government agency representatives and the public.
- Maintains a cost effective inventory control for the department.
- Provides logs, writes procedures, writes reports and updates procedures and reports as needed and forwards all requests to management for review.
- Demonstrates leadership with department employees of various knowledge levels.
- Responsible for accurate and timely completion of meter read data as well as estimates.
- Performs any related duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field working with instrumentation and controls or metering systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Maximo or CMMS system experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Applications.
- Must submit to a company provided pre-employment physical and drug screening.
- Must possess a valid driver license in good standing in order to operate a company vehicle. Must have and maintain a driving record meeting the standards of the company.
- Standing, sitting, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, walking on uneven surfaces, and grating, working from elevated platforms, scaffolding or ladders, required to lift up to and including 50 pounds.
- Must qualify to wear a respirator.
- Exposed to temperature extremes, high noise level areas, high pressure steam lines, rotating equipment, and dusty/dirty environment.
