Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Metal Fabricator processes material to meet the required dimensions as laid out in the shop drawings. The Metal Fabricator is responsible for cutting, fitting, and preparing parts to be welded and assembled into quality finished products.

- Operating hours are Mon-Fri from 7am-3pm with two 15 min paid breaks.
- Interpret drawings, work-orders, and bill of materials to determine material requirements, product layout and dimensional criteria for parts being produced.
- Follow fabrication procedures to efficiently process material and make quality parts.
- Accurately cut, fit, and layout material to within a 3mm tolerance.
- Pick and cut raw material as indicated on the work-order.
- Generate cut sheets and determine approach for optimizing yields with minimal scrap.
- Prepare and process material (i.e., cut, bend, bevel, debur, punch, mill, press, drill etc.).
- Use saws, mill, drill press, iron worker, shear, press and production equipment as required.
- Dispose of off-cuts and put away remaining usable materials in designated locations.
- Layout and assemble bolted products to ensure fit and over-all quality.
- Daily reporting of material usage on work-orders.
- Daily reporting on labor tickets of the amount of time spent on each project.
- Assists welders and fabricators with material handling and tasks as required.
- Maintain a clean and organized working environment.
- Appropriate maintenance and upkeep of job-related equipment.
- Work in a safe manner that complies with company health and safety stands and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Any other suitable duties as requested by your Manager
- 2 Years’ experience operating metal fabrication equipment
- Familiarity with raw materials (i.e., flat bar, angles, pipe, tube, channels, sheet, plate etc.). Most of the material is 1/4” or 3/8” thick grade 6061-T6 aluminum or stainless steel.
- Strong blueprint reading capabilities to fit and layout parts to achieve a quality finished product.
- Solid understanding of fabrication and metalworking procedures.
- Knowledge of production equipment, tools, materials, and processing techniques.
- Detail oriented, organized, and able to follow instructions.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Strong work ethic with a sense of responsibility, ownership, and accountability.
- Ability to meet assigned deadlines, collaborate effectively with the team and work autonomously as required.
- Solid math and measurement skills (i.e., conversion from fractional to decimal and metric to imperial).
