Mechanical Project Manager/Estimator
Federal Construction Manager is in search of a Mechanical Construction Project Managers & Estimators with a minimum of 10 years of experience estimating construction projects. Experience should include coordination and estimating associated trades for a complete project estimate for all types of Mechanical/Plumbing commercial & institutional construction projects. Must be very familiar with detailed line-item type estimating, such as RS Means or Gordian database unit pricing. Experience with E4Clicks software is a plus. Must be hands on, self-motivated, and ready to work. Individual will be responsible for the following:
Responsibilities
•Develop an understanding of the scope of work
•Acquiring multiple subcontractor trades to provide quotes
•Coordinating with client, subcontractors and in-house staff for site visits
•Solicit and develop pre-bid RFIs
•Visit sites, Facilities and other spaces to gather essential information
•Develop detailed scopes of work and take offs
•Locate and solicit subcontractor proposals
•Qualify subcontractor bid proposals.
•Research material specifications, pricing and other information.
•Prepare detailed cost reports and/or bids for submission to appropriate parties
•Select advantageous subcontractor by evaluating offers and quotes
•Foster relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, architects etc.)
•Perform any other related duties as assigned
Skills
•Proven experience as Mechanical construction estimator.
•Detailed knowledge of Mechanical Systems (HVAC, Plumbing, etc.) in commercial, institutional, research & development facilities.
•Experience developing detailed line-item estimates of Mechanical systems from concept SOWs and/or drawings.
•Basic understanding of accounting and project management concepts
•Excellent knowledge of RS Means based software like Cost Works or E4Clicks
•Proven experience as construction estimator
•Attention to detail in building assemblies
•Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
•Well-organized and reliable
•Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or other qualification will be a plus
•Must be a United States Citizen and be able to pass a Government Security Check
•Minimum of 10 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
•Ability to successfully negotiate with subcontractors to ascertain best pricing
•Ability to navigate specifications and plans
•Proficiency in reviewing RFIs/RFPs
•Ability to handle multiple assignments at once
•Knowledge of the latest building codes
•Close attention to detail
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Experience:
•Government contracts experience
